Colts WR Alec Pierce continues to progress in his recovery from a re-injured heel but is still likely at least a few weeks from returning, though he is eligible to have his 21-day practice window on injured reserve opened next week, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported. Pierce re-injured his left heel late in the first quarter of Week 2’s Sunday night game against the Chiefs and was placed on injured reserve. The initial expectation was that he would be out closer to midseason, at least six to eight weeks, rather than the four-game IR minimum. Pierce was not seen wearing a cast earlier this week.
