We all know the NFL, which stands for Not For Long; if you sit back and rest on your laurels, you find yourself on the losing end of the game. Conversely, if you have a rough draft and injuries are already mounting, it’s an opportunity to gain an edge on your opponent. Snap Counts & Usage From Week 17
Armando Marsal takes a look at notable trends in snap counts and usage from last week. Like I do every year, I will dive into offensive snap counts after each week. This article will focus on identifying changes, trends, and things we should be taking note of for players and their opportunities. Snap counts are a part of my weekly analysis because they gauge how often a player is on the field, which could translate into potential opportunity to produce fantasy points. Even though playing time does not always translate into fantasy points, the path to scoring fantasy points is easier for those players on the field. Looking at snap counts and comparing them to volume/touches also gives us a clear picture of a player’s role in their offense. Some positions, such as quarterbacks, are straight forward, but others not so much. I will focus primarily on situations that we need to be keeping a close eye on and situations that stand out to me. At the end of the article I will include a spreadsheet with all the weekly snap counts for all teams, along with the YTD snap counts.

Welcome to the 2025 version of the Start/Sit Breakdown. This article focuses on the questions you, our subscribers, ask most frequently each week, including our start-sit decisions. I will maintain, though, that there is far too much focus on who to start and not enough emphasis on roster construction. After 30 years of playing this game, I’ve found that worrying less about start-and-sit decisions and more about proper roster construction has led to greater success. We spend each week racking our brains over who to use in the flex spot, as three or four players share a similar outlook. I’d rather load my bench with players who have a potential path to high-volume workloads. That means some weeks, my bench is loaded with players scoring little to no points.
