Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said on Wednesday that the team plans a bigger role for RB Austin Ekeler with RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve. “Now that he’s back, we’ll need to lean in more, and he’s able to handle a bigger workload now,” Quinn said. “It’s the right play.” Ekeler averaged 7.3 yards per carry in his Week 4 return against the Colts but has carried the ball only four times since, and Croskey-Merritt is out for at least the next month.
