I will maintain, though, that there is far too much focus on who to start and not enough emphasis on roster construction. After 30 years of playing this game, I’ve found that worrying less about start and sit decisions and more about proper roster construction has led to more success. We spend each week racking our brains over who to use in the flex spot, as three or four players share a similar outlook. I’d rather load my bench with players who have a potential path to high-volume workloads. That means some weeks, my bench is loaded with players scoring little to no points.
