What is a teaser?

A teaser is a parlay in which you get additional points added to your games. Here is a basic example:

GB is -8 over DET and NE is -12.5 against MIA.

You can do a 2 team 6 point teaser at -120.

You now have a parlay of GB -2 over DET and NE -6.5 over MIA with a price of -120. So you could risk $120 to profit $100 if both games cover.

What types of teasers are there?

Teasers are mostly used for football and basketball and can have varying point adjustments made. The most popular ones are 6,7 and 10 point teasers used for football.

What are the standard teaser prices for NFL?

6 point 2 team: -120

6.5 point 2 team: -130

7 point 2 team: -140

10 point 3 team: -120

You can add more teams to these and increase the payout, but those are the 4 most popular teasers.

What is the value of teasing?

You can tease spreads and over/unders but the value lies in teasing spreads in the NFL through key numbers.

Key numbers are numbers such as 3 and 7 which are very important numbers in football betting since so many games end on those numbers.

Being able to reduce a team from -8.5 to -2.5 is a lot of value.

Can you give me some examples?

There are some great opportunities to use teasers this week in the NFL. You currently have the following lines this week:

NO -7.5 over DAL

LAR -9.5 over DET

GB -14 over AZ

KC -14 over OAK

SEA -10 over SF

PHI -6.5 over WASH

Any of these games could be used in a teaser and create value. Let’s do a 7 point teaser with LAR and NO.

So we have basically now have a parlay of LAR -2.5 over DET and NO -0.5 over DAL at a price of -140  Now let’s compare that price to a straight ML parlay of LAR and NO.

2 Team Teaser: Bet $140 to profit $100

2 Team ML Parlay: Bet $140 to profit $79

So we essentially are gaining an additional $21 of profit by using a teaser. This is well worth the slight increase in risk from moving from LAR ML to LAR -2.5 and NO ML to NO -0.5.

Items to watch out for:

Check rules for your book to see if ties are graded as a loss or push

Look at all of the books you use and determine which one has the best teaser lines

One book may charge -120 where another charges -130, etc.

One book may grade ties as a push while another may grade as a loss
