 TEAMCONTRACTCOMMENT
Catchers
Gary Sánchez (31 years old, 3.0 WAR) MIL 1-yr, $3MWon’t catch much behind Contreras, but should play 3/4 times a week with power at the DH spot.
Mitch Garver (33, 2.4) SEA 2-yr, $24MShould play daily, but SEA is a part that downs the long ball which limits the excitement just a bit.
Victor Caratini (30, 2.3) HOU 2-yr, $12MDecent offensively. An “only” add as he will serve as a lightly used backup to Yainer Diaz.
Tom Murphy (33, 1.3) SF 2-yr, $8M Can’t field, but he will offer an able bat as a support option to Bailey. A usable NL-only add.
Roberto Pérez (35, 0.5) BOS Minor Lg. Has power, but cannot hit. An AL-only option.
Austin Hedges (31, 0.3) CLE 1-yr, $4MHe can really catch. Unfortunately, he really cannot hit.
Curt Casali (35, 0.2) MIA Minor Lg. He has some pop, but he’s nothing other than lg. only fodder.
Jorge Alfaro (31, 0.1) CHC Minor Lg.Has a solid bat, but struggles to earn playing time. Will play behind Yan Gomes, limiting his at-bats.
Michael Perez (31, 0.0) BAL Minor Lg. Seems to be nothing more than an emergency depth option for the organization.
Tucker Barnhart (33, -0.1) ARI Minor Lg. Hopes to grab the backup role to Gabriel Moreno.
Manny Piña (37, -0.1)
Mike Zunino (33, -0.2)
Yasmani Grandal (35, -0.5) PIT 1-yr, $2.5 Last year was a mess and he couldn’t find work before settling for backup duties in PIT.
Martín Maldonado (37, -0.7) CWS 2-yr, $8MHas some pop, but is best known for his defense. Ideally, he would back up Max Stassi and not be forced to play a ton at 37 yrs of age.
Sandy León (35, -0.8) KC Minor Lg.  Signed as organizational depth.

First basemen
Rhys Hoskins (31 years old, 2.3 WAR) MIL 2-yr, $34M Missed last season with a torn ACL. Should play daily with a shot at 30 homers in his new home.
Carlos Santana (38, 2.7) MIN 1-yr, $5.25M The Twins must really be down on AK. Santana will battle the younger and more talented player for PT.
Brandon Belt (36, 2.4)
Donovan Solano (36, 1.8)
Garrett Cooper (33, 1.6) CHC Minor Lg.  Would seem like a longshot to make the team with Bellinger back.
Ji Man Choi (33, 0.8) NYM 1-yr, $3.5MHas a shot, small one, to carve out a significant role this season in New York.
C.J. Cron (34, 0.8)
Trey Mancini (32, 0.2) MIA Minor Lg.  Cubs are paying his salary. Looking to re-establish himself as a decent middle of the order bat.
Eric Hosmer (34, -0.1)   Retired.
Jake Lamb (33, -0.2)
Luke Voit (33, -0.2)
Jesús Aguilar (34, -0.8)  Japan Will try to revive his career with the Seibu Lions.
Joey Votto (40, -0.8)   Still looking for work.
Yuli Gurriel (40, -1.4)
Rowdy Tellez (28) PIT 1-yr, $3.2MHe can slug, and should get a fair amount of playing time. Limited by his ballpark, lineup and lack of batting average/speed though.

Second basemen
Elvis Andrus (35 years old, 4.6 WAR) ARIMinor Lg. With Perdomo/Lawlar around, this seems like an odd spot to sign for the vet.
Whit Merrifield (35, 3.0) PHI 1-yr, $8MHe will start the year backing up Stott/Marsh, but figures to get tons of PT.
Tony Kemp (32, 1.5) CIN 1-yr, $1M A nice signing, but where does he garner enough playing time?
Kolten Wong (33, 1.5)
Adam Frazier (32, 1.3) KC1-yr, $4.5M  Always finds a job. Never excites in the fantasy game.
Jonathan Schoop (32, 1.2)
Rougned Odor (30, 1.0) JPN Has taken his game to Japan. Can you believe he’s still only 29 years old?
Josh Harrison (36, 0.8) CIN Minor Lg.  A solid vet signing. If he’s in the lineup though, it is cause of injury or terrible efforts by younger/more talented players.
Hanser Alberto (31, -0.7)
Leury García (33, -1.1)

Third basemen
Matt Chapman (31 years old, 7.6 WAR) SF1-yr, $18MHas to option years to remain with Giants, but the only way he picks those options up is if he stinks on the field.
Justin Turner (39, 3.6) TOR 1-yr, $13M WIll basically be full-time DH and should be expected to basically replicate last season – though he’s approaching 40.
Jeimer Candelario (30, 3.1) CIN 3-yr, $45MReds didn’t need a thid baseman, so this likely means one of their youngsters will be dealt, likely for pitching. Great landing spot for JC.
Gio Urshela (32, 2.7) DET 1-yr, $1.5M Strong glovework, decent bat. Not a mixed league option though.
Josh Donaldson (38, 1.6)
Evan Longoria (38, 1.4)
Eduardo Escobar (35, 1.3)
Brian Anderson (31, 0.8) SEA Minor Lg.  His ability to play a couple of spots might get him a shot to make the O.D. roster.
Jean Segura (34, 0.5)
Matt Duffy (33, -0.2)
Charlie Culberson (35, -0.6) ATL Minor Lg. No longer a hitter, he’s trying to transition to pitching at 34 years of age. We wish him luck.
Mike Moustakas (35, -0.8) CWS Minor Lg.  Could make the roster given that it’s, simply, not very good.
Hunter Dozier (32, -1.3) LAAMinor Lg.   Angels signing everyone to one year deals on the cheap. Hard to see Hunter making an impact this year.

Shortstops
Amed Rosario (28 years old, 2.9 WAR) TB 1-yr, $1.5M A small contract and an odd locale. We could be looking at 300-500 PA for Rosario, throwing his value into the unknown realm.
Brandon Crawford (37, 2.6) STL 1-yr, $2M It just doesn’t seem right that he’s no longer a Giant.
Javier Báez (31, 2.6) — opt-out DET 4-yr, $98M He decided to take his money and stay with DET.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (29, 1.6) TOR2-yr, $15M  Extremely versatile defensively, and extremely blash-tastic offensively. An AL only lg. add.
Tim Anderson (31, 1.5) FLA 1-yr, $5M Got a bridge deal to prove last season was a fluke. Should hit second as he hunts a rebound.
José Iglesias (34, 1.0) NYM Minor Lg.Likely nothing more than organizational depth that will struggle to make OD roster.
Paul DeJong (30, 0.4) CWS 1-yr, $1.75MHits homers but does little else. Holding the seat until Colson Montgomery is ready.
Nick Ahmed (34, 0.3) SF Minor Lg.  Could crack the O.D. roster, though there is no interest in the fantasy game.
Joey Wendle (34, 0.3) NYM 1-yr, $2M Can play anywhere on the infield. No fantasy value, but a nice bench signing by the Metropolitans.
Adalberto Mondesi (28, 0.0)   Marlins seem interested?
Danny Mendick (30, 0.0)
Ehire Adrianza (34, -0.7)
Kiké Hernández (32, -0.9) LAD 1-yr, $4M Boring. Could block youngsters from getting PT without doing anything of interest in mixed leagues.
Chris Owings (32, -0.9)

Left Fielders
Mark Canha (35 years old, 4.2 WAR) — club optionDET He was dealt to the Tigers at the beginning of November.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (30, 3.2) ARI 3-yrs, $42MA solid producer who slots in as an OF5 type given his lack of elite power or stolen base speed.
Joc Pederson (32, 2.7) ARI 1-yr, $9.5M He will DH against RHP, probably do it pretty well, and be a moderately successful bench option in mixed leagues.
Tommy Pham (36, 2.5)   Still homeless…
David Peralta (36, 1.8) CHC Minor Lg.  Basically just a bench bat at this point. He struggled to a sub .700 OPS last year.
Michael Brantley (37, 1.4) RET  Decided to hang em up. Made 5 Alll-Star teams and hit .298 wiht a .355 OBP for his career. His 2014: .327-20-97-94-23.
Joey Gallo (30, 1.4) WAS 1-yr, $5M They will hope he has a huge first half so they can trade him at the deadline.
Travis Jankowski (33, 1.0) TEX 1-yr, $1.75M Will play defense and run fast.
Jurickson Profar (31, 0.6) SD 1-yr, $1M Could he actually start in the OF? Given the roster at the time of his signing, it sure seems possible.
Jordan Luplow (30, 0.5)
Eddie Rosario (32, 0.2)
Robbie Grossman (34, 0.1)
Corey Dickerson (35, -0.2)
Ben Gamel (32, -0.2) NYM Minor Lg.  A pro but he offers nothing for fantasy purposes.
AJ Pollock (36, -0.4)

Center Fielders
Cody Bellinger (28 years old, 5.9 WAR) 1-yr, $20.35MWas extended a qualifying offer.
Kevin Kiermaier (34, 3.2) TOR 1-yr, $10.5M His mixed league days are a thing of the past.
Michael A. Taylor (33, 3.2)
Adam Duvall (35, 2.9)
Harrison Bader (30, 2.5) NYM 1-yr, $10.5M Has power. Has speed. Impressive glove too. Unfortuately, he spends far too much time in the doctor’s office.
Aaron Hicks (34, 2.5) LAA 1-yr, $740K Don’t feel too bad for Hicks. He’s getting $8.76M from the Yankees.
Rafael Ortega (33, 1.2) CWS Minor Lg.  There was a month he was something, but it was only a month.
Jake Marisnick (33, 0.7)
Billy Hamilton (33, -0.1)   Speed.
Adam Engel (32, -0.4)
Jackie Bradley Jr. (34, -0.9)
Jung Ho Lee (25 yrs) SF 6-yrs, $113MKBO MVP in 2022 going .349-23-113-85 in 142 games. Has an outstanding career slash of .340/.407/.491.

Right Fielders
Teoscar Hernández (31 years old, 4.3 WAR) LAD 1-yr, $23.5MLAD is just geting stupid now. Went .258-26-93 last year and couple replicate that effort this year.
Hunter Renfroe (32, 3.1) KC 2-yr, $13MShould play most days for KC looking to rebound from a somewhat down season as a 31 year old slugger. Solid source of cheap power.
Jason Heyward (34, 1.8) LAD 1-yr, $9MSlightly under 400 PA and posted a solid .813 OPS, the 4th best mark of his career. Solid retention move for LAD.
Randal Grichuk (32, 0.4) ARI 1-yr, $1.5M He gets $1.5M with a $6M mutual option for 2025. He should mash righties, but there will be a big time squeeze for PT against RHP.
Wil Myers (33, 0.3)
Tyler Naquin (33, 0.1)
Kevin Pillar (35, 0.1)CWS  Minor Lg.  He will make the club and earn $3M. Would be shocking if he didn’t given the dearth of MLB talent on this team.
Kole Calhoun (36, -1.3)

Designated Hitters
Shohei Ohtani (29 years old, 18.4 WAR) LAD10-yr, $700MInsane $ after no one else had cleared $450M before. Won’t pitch this year, but the bat should again be outstanding. The best all-around player every got paid.
J.D. Martinez (36, 3.1)   Soon?
Jorge Soler (32, 2.4) SF3-yr, $42MWill DH and sock the ball. The park in SF, the last three years, has a Park Factor of 27th for RHB in HR category though.
Matt Carpenter (38, 2.0) — player option STL 1-yr He will return to the site of his greatest success.
Andrew McCutchen (37, 1.5) PIT 1-yr, $5M Returns to where he was an MVP candidate. coming back from an Achilles issue, he’s unlikely to be a mixed lg. assett.
Jesse Winker (30, -0.4) WAS Minor Lg. Was a .300/.400/.500 type of player at one point. What is physically left at this point?
Darin Ruf (37, -0.8)
Nelson Cruz (43, -1.0)   Retired after an impressive career.
Tommy La Stella (35, -1.0)
Brad Miller (34, -1.3)

Starting Pitchers
Shohei Ohtani (29 years old, 18.4 WAR) 1-yr, $20.35M?Was extended a qualifying offer.
Aaron Nola (31, 10.2) PHI7-yr, $172MHad an offer for more $. Strong fantasy option this year, but that contract may look rough down the road.
Blake Snell (31, 7.7)  Amazing he’s still a FA.
Sonny Gray (34, 7.6) STL3-yr, $75MA lot of cash to be the #1 SP after signing Lynn/Gibson. Problem is, despite last season, Gray isn’t a #1. Solid, but not a staff leader.
Jordan Montgomery (31, 7.0)   Amazing he’s still a FA.
Clayton Kershaw (36, 6.2) LAD 1-yr, $10M He could make up to $37M over the two years of the deal. Won’t see him until the second half this year
Marcus Stroman (33, 4.8) NYY 2-yr, $37M Was great at the start and horrible at the end last year. Adding it all up – he was about as expected which is solid without being a star.
Kyle Gibson (36, 4.4) STL 1-yr, $12MSurprising he only got one year. A solid back-end starter with streaming appeal in mixed leagues.
Martín Pérez (33, 4.4) PIT 1-yr, $8MThe perfect Pirates signing. He will be effective, but really do nothing. Just a streaming option in mixed leagues.
Julio Urías (27, 4.4)   No felony charges to be filed, but still may not play this year.
Charlie Morton (40, 4.2) — club option ATL1-yr, $20MWrong side of 40, but still threw 163 innings and had more than a punchout a frame.
Michael Wacha (32, 4.1) KC 2-yr, $32MA solid signing for a very effective righty. Has a 3.27 ERA and 1.14 WHIP but his last season of 135 IP was in 2017.
Eduardo Rodriguez (31, 3.7) ARI 4-yr, $80MARI gets one of the best lefties on the market. Solid hurler, but workload and strikeouts aren’t elite.
Seth Lugo (34, 3.1) KC 3-yr, $45M Royals spending to get a stable veteran who posted a 3.57 ERA and 1.20 WHIP over 146 innings last season for the Padres.
Zack Greinke (40, 3.0)   Sounds like he wants to keep pitching.
Lucas Giolito (29, 2.8) BOS 2-yr,. $38.5M Soaks up innings and piles on strikeouts. Huge issue late in the year, and homers were a problem all year long. A solid rebound candidate though a rough home park.
Michael Lorenzen (32, 2.7)
Mike Clevinger (33, 2.6)
Rich Hill (44, 2.5)   Reports suggest he might wait until mid-season to sign.
Tyler Mahle (29, 2.5) TEX 2-yr, $22M Pretty hefty some for a guy who will miss the first couple months coming off TJ surgery.
Lance Lynn (37, 2.4) STL 1-yr, $10MReturns to STL. Homers were a massive issue last year, but still produces a K per inning and he did crest 180 IP.

Corey Kluber (38, 2.2) RET.  Decided to hang up the cleats.
Carlos Carrasco (37, 2.1) CLE Minor Lg.  Looked washed last year, but will get a shot to grab a rotation spot.
Sean Manaea (32, 2.1) NYM 2-yr, $28M A swingman for SF, he was paid starter money by the Mets. Posted a 1.09 WHIP over his final 85 innings as a very effective depth option.
Frankie Montas (31, 2.0) CIN 1-yr, $14MIt is a poor landing spot, but at least he’s not a fly ball pitcher. Only threw 1.1 innings last year due to injury, so he’s a risky mixed lg. option.
Alex Wood (33, 1.9) OAK  Will try to revive his career in a spot where he will be given every chance to make 25 starts.
Jack Flaherty (28, 1.8) DET 1-yr, $14M Can make more through incentives as he tries to establish himself as someone worthy of big $. Hard to trust in mixed leagues at the moment.
Johnny Cueto (38, 1.7)
Noah Syndergaard (31, 1.7)
Wade Miley (37, 1.6) MIL 1-yr, $8.5MHe returns to the Brew Crew to given them five solid innings an outing – when he’s healthy enough to start.
Kenta Maeda (35, 1.5) DET 2-yr, $24M Not capable of leading a staff, and will miss time, but also will provide quality innings every time he takes the ball. A solid late round fantasy target.
Zach Davies (31, 1.2)
Jake Odorizzi (34, 1.2)
Vince Velasquez (32, 1.1)
Matthew Boyd (33, 1.0)
James Paxton (34, 1.0) LAD 1-yr, $12M Dodgers continue to throw money around like drunken sailors. This move likely pushes Sheehan out of rotation.
Luke Weaver (30, 0.9) NYY 1-yr, $2MAs of this writing he actually might be part of the starting rotation in NY – or at least be looked at as the 6th SP. That is not a good plan.
Luis Severino (30, 0.8) NYM 1-yr, $13MStays in NY and trying to find his lost performance. On surface was awful last year, but digging deeper, it wasn’t as bad as it looked.
Brad Keller (28, 0.6)
Hyun Jin Ryu (37, 0.5) KBO 8-year Is done in North America.
Chase Anderson (36, 0.3)
Erick Fedde (31, 0.3) CWS 2-yr, $15MThe new Merrill Kelly? Crushed it in Japan posting a 2.00 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and a 209 strikeouts in 180.1 IP.
Eric Lauer (29, 0.3)
Julio Teheran (33, 0.3)
Chris Flexen (29, 0.2) CWS 1-yr, $1.75MCan help out of the pen or rotation. Not very good in either role though. Just a guy.
José Ureña (32, 0.2)
Madison Bumgarner (33, 0.0)
Chad Kuhl (31, -0.1)
Dallas Keuchel (36, -0.2)
Tommy Milone (37, -0.4)
Drew Rucinski (35, -0.6)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (25, N/A) LAD 12-yr, $325MAdd in $50M in a posting fee and you have the longest and largest expenditure on a pitcher in history – and he’s never thrown an MLB pitch.
Shota Imanga (30, N/A) CHC 4-yr, $53M Will pitch in Wrigley. Doesn’t dominate, but he fills up the strike zone with aplomb. All kinds of opt outs and opt ins with the contract as well.

Relief Pitchers
Reynaldo López (30 years old, 2.8 WAR) ATL 3-yr, $30MHe’s been quire effective as a reliever, but he will prepare to start. Figures to still land in the pen.
Josh Hader (30, 2.5) HOU 5-yr, $95MTakes over the 9th, lighting on fire the outlook of Pressly as Hader will shoot for another 30+ save season in a great enviornment.
Hector Neris (35, 2.5) CHC 1-yr, $9M Figures to start as the 8th inning guy, but will likely see shots in the 9th inning as well.
Jakob Junis (31, 2.0) MIL 1-yr, $7M Will likely get a shot to start given the depleted rotation. Not a terrible last round flyer.
Craig Kimbrel (36, 2.0) BAL 1-yr, $13MObviously signed to work the 9th inning with Bautista down. Still a highly effective option.
Matt Moore (35, 2.0) LA 1-yr, $9M A lot of coin for a middle reliever. Found himself in the pen last year wtih 22 holds and a 1.16 WHIP.
David Robertson (39, 1.9) TEX 1-yr, $11.5M Will battle Jose Leclerc for closing duties in his 39 year old season.
Chris Stratton (33, 1.9) KC 1-yr, $3.5M Posted a 1.14 WHIP with 81 Ks in a robust 82.2 innings last season.
Dylan Floro (33, 1.8) WAS 1-yr, $2.25MVersatile but boring reliever. A good real world signing, but boring from a fantasy perspective.
Ryan Brasier (36, 1.7) LAD 2-yr, $9M Posted a 1.02 WHIP over 59 games last season as a useful real-world arm with limited fantasy appeal.
Nick Martinez (33, 1.7) CIN 2-yr, $26M A solid swingman who can start/relieve. We assume he will get a chance to start. Has an opt out after a year.
Collin McHugh (37, 1.7)   Decided to retire.
Buck Farmer (33, 1.6) CIN 1-yr, $2.25M Decent enough for the Reds, but not fantasy relevant.
Luis García (37, 1.6) LAA 1-yr, $4.25MHe’s no threat to close, but he’s an effective reliever at this point of his career.
Liam Hendriks (35, 1.6) BOS 2-yr, $10M He hopes to return to action late in the year, perhaps in August.
Aroldis Chapman (36, 1.5) PIT 1-yr, $10.5M Got paid. Brings dominant stuff (103 Ks in 58.1 IP). Has no path to 9th inning work in PIT other than scraps.
Jesse Chavez (40, 1.5) CWS Minor Lg. There is a scenario where he serves as the top setup man to John Brebbia. Really.
Andrew Chafin (34, 1.4) DET 1-yr, $4.25M No threat for more than a handful of saves, the lefty struggles to be fantasy relevant as a result.
Jordan Hicks (27, 1.4) SF 4-yr, $44MThe Giants get a righty setup man who can throw 100 mph. However, they will ask him to start this season.
Joe Kelly (36, 1.4) LAD 1-yr, $8You can’t teach 99 mph. Has a 1.24 WHIP and 12.2 K/9 the last three years.
Anthony Bass (36, 1.3)
John Brebbia (34, 1.2) CWS 1-yrCan start/relieve, and the CWS pen could use arms. Could work his way into AL-only value.
Robert Stephenson (31, 1.2) LAA 3-yr, $33MDominating last season in TB, he now moves to a team with a moderately successful closer. Will work high-leverage innings, and could see some 9th inning time.
Brent Suter (34, 1.2) CIN 1-yr, $2.5M Could spot start big figures to work out of the pen after his solid season last year in COL.
Michael Fulmer (31, 1.1) BOS Minor Lg.  Priority #1 is simply to stay healthy.
Scott Alexander (34, 1.0)
Adam Ottavino (38, 1.0) NYM1-yr, $4.5M  Returns to throw his slider a setup man and will likely do so effectively.
Emilio Pagán (33, 1.0) CIN2-yr, $16M  A decent signing coming off a solid year. But, really, he’s just a decent middle reliever with some closing experience.
Will Smith (34, 1.0) KC 1-yr, $5MSaved 22 games ast year with a 1.06 WHIP. A solid late inning option for years, he will battle James McArthur for the 9th.
Ryne Stanek (32, 1.0)
Daniel Hudson (37, 0.9) LAD Minor Lg.A solid hurler – when healthy. He just hasnt been. Coming back from an ACL tear.
Shelby Miller (33, 0.9) DET 1-yr, $3MTurned his career around last season. A solid middle RP, if he can stay healthy – and he hasn’t been able to.
Brad Hand (34, 0.8)
Brad Boxberger (36, 0.6)
Chris Devenski (33, 0.5) TB 1-yr, $1MOnce a thing in fantasy. He’s a Ray, and you can never discount their miraculous abilites to turn coal into diamonds.
Carl Edwards Jr. (32, 0.5) CHCMinor Lg.  Solid the last two years, but dealt with shoulder woes last year.
Aaron Loup (36, 0.5)
Phil Maton (31, 0.5) TB TB crushes it with pitching, and Maton is already pretty darn good after a 1.12 WHIP and K per inning over 68 appearancs in HOU.
Wandy Peralta (32, 0.5) SD 4-yr, $16.5M Four years – really? He’s perfectly fine as an innings eating bullpen arm, but not sure how/why he got a four year deal.
Joely Rodriguez (32, 0.4)
Richard Bleier (37, 0.3)
Amir Garrett (32, 0.3) SF Minor Lg.  Strikes guys out but walks everyone in the building.
