JUST SAY NO
I don’t bet parlays: Let’s check in on VFW Joe: Joe is 7 Natty’s deep screaming at the Indians (Joe is from Cleveland) to close out a 7-1 lead in the 8th. This will help Joe cash his 8 team parlay (None of which he bet straight.)
Joe is high on life, we only need 6 outs and he is BUYING THE BAR DRINKS!!!! But wait WAIT! They just gave up a run! Joe orders another draft and is still thinking about how smart his 1st 7 picks were, he is fine, just 6 outs left.
Before you know it, The Tribe have blown the game and Joe is laying in a familiar puddle of his own piss and cheap draft beer. Joe is a loser, he knows this feeling well. So close yet so broke.
If Joe would have bet these straight he would of had 7 winners and 1 loser and be covered in much less piss, still some piss just less.
The leverage a parlay gives a player is very sexy, it is hard to avoid. I get that. But why do you think a bookmaker makes them so sexy? Is it because he wants you to have 10x leverage? Or because he knows you will lose?
I will bet the occasional parlay if I have an edge on 2 teams and the parlay price still offers enough value to justify a play. But I can do that math, Joe failed 8th-grade algebra.
I know you and VFW JOE all know that guy that hit his 12 teamer and made 12K from $200. But let me assure you, anyone betting deep out of the money derivative plays are long-term losers like Joe. Fight your deep desires and JUST SAY NO.
