I am so excited for this week and cannot wait to watch The Masters. I even took off of work Thursday and Friday to watch it and gamble on it as well. This is a great week for golf as when watching the streams, you get to see how beautiful the course is and how it tests all the golfers. Also gambling on it is fun as well and can be very profitable if done correctly. In this article I will be giving 4 cash game locks and give a brief explanation as to why. I will also breakdown each golfer that I like for this week as I always do. Now let’s get to it!!
Cash Game Locks
Xander Schauffele – He is just one of the safest guys in the field and he is sub $10k which makes this play even better for cash games. He might not have win equity like some of the other guys up top, but he is very safe and is almost a guarantee to make the cut and a great chance for a top 10.
Russell Henley – I know you might be thinking why Henley is a cash game lock but looking at his stats and his recent form and he has even played this course twice in the last 5 years finishing top 20th in both appearances. Henley has not missed a cut since July of 2021 and in my opinion way too cheap even though we are talking about a very good field.
Cameron Smith – This guy is a really good golfer and he will show more of that this week. He missed the cut at the Sony Open, but prior to that he didn’t miss a cut since June of 2021. Now look at his Master’s appearances and you will see why I love him even more finishing 10th, 2nd, 51st and 5th the last four times.
Webb Simpson – I know he does not have the greatest form coming in, but he seems to be getting healthier and loves it here at The Masters. Webb has finished 12th, 10th and 5th the last three times out and is an amazing putter on fast bent grass greens.
If you use these 4 cash game locks it leaves you with $15,200 for two more guys which is more than enough to build a lineup.
Player Breakdowns
Jon Rahm (Cash/GPP)
I really like him this week and think he finishes top 10. Rahm loves The Masters and people say his putter is terrible. YeaH, but his fast bent grass stats are actually much better than people would think.
Dustin Johnson (Cash/GPP)
Coming in with pretty good form along with smashing here at The Masters is a recipe for a good week from DJ. His stats also lineup well for what I am looking at and he could make some waves this week. Also, great putter on fast bent grass greens.
Collin Morikawa (GPP)
I really do think we could see him come top 5 here at The Masters this week. This guy is just so dang good when he has his game going. I think we see him make the cut for sure and then has upside for a top 5 or a win.
Patrick Cantlay (Cash/GPP)
Cantlay is coming in with some of his best form before The Masters. The year he had his second-best form he came 9th here. I absolutely love Cantlay for GPP and hope he comes in slightly lower owned due to the guys around him. 4th in my overall stats model and 2nd in putting so he just screams play me and win money.
Brooks Koepka (GPP)
Has been very inconsistent but we all know he is the big game hunter and can turn up here any time. He has a 7th and a 2nd in his last three times here. In GPPs I am willing to take my shots.
Will Zalatoris (Cash/GPP)
He is bound to win a major eventually and while I don’t think it comes here, he will make the cut and finish top 20 minimum in my eyes with upside of top 5 and can score well for you.
Bryson DeChambeau (Deep GPP)
This is a Milly Maker type play only for me. If he is remotely highly owned I will for sure fade, but Bryson is bound to rattle off a top 5 at The Masters eventually with his long driving and how his game comes together when he’s not rusty. I really believe he comes in sub 10% in the Milly because how bad he has looked lately.
Louis Oosthuizen (Cash)
He will be chalky for sure and is near a cash lock for me. He just doesn’t miss the cut and while he might not have win equity you don’t need that to cash some cash games.
Talor Gooch (GPP)
I really am wondering where his ownership is going to land because if he’s not highly owned I almost want to go all in for GPPs. His upside is tremendous here and while he has not played this course, he sets up very well and can do some serious damage.
Joaquin Niemann (Cash/GPP)
Came 40th here last year but two times played here under his belt are just an advantage for him and I do like his stats this week.
Sergio Garcia (GPP)
He is coming in with some of his best recent form since when he won the masters in 2017. I know he has missed the cut every year since, but he has had a kid with wife since then. He should bounce back and make the cut this year with upside to win as we saw in 2017.
Matthew Fitzpatrick (Cash/GPP)
He has some pretty good form right now with only one missed cut this year and it was at The Players. His placement at The Masters isn’t the greatest but he has only missed one cut and it was in 2014 so he has rattled off 6 straight cuts. Also, his Par 5 scoring is 1st in this field the last 24 and I’m willing to bank on him doing well.
Corey Conners (GPP)
I have him listed as GPP only because he likes to sometimes lose a bunch of strokes putting and do terrible. Now if he gets that somewhat together, he can do well here because his iron game is great. He finished 8th here last year as well so he does have upside.
Justin Rose (GPP)
Not the greatest of forms but his is a god at The Masters and knows his way around the course. I’m sure he should do well here.
Patrick Reed (GPP)
Another guy who does not have the greatest of forms but has played well at The Masters in the past. We all know he has winning equity and that is all I need from him. His stats will never show up for you.
Marc Leishman (Cash/GPP)
It looks like he is starting to find something lately and also plays well at The Masters. He is way too cheap if he finds his old game again.
Si Woo Kim (GPP)
Actually plays pretty well here at The Masters and also has not made a cut since October of 2021. He should put himself into the weekend with a chance.
Robert MacIntyre (Cash/GPP)
As I mentioned before it slightly favors lefties who can shot shape and Bobby Mac showed that last year when he finished 12th. I think we see another top 25 here and that will hopefully pay off his price.
Gary Woodland (GPP)
Does not have the greatest form at The Masters but he has played it plenty of times and knows his way around. He is also coming in with some of his best form along with stats that line up.
Brian Harman (Cash/GPP)
I actually like him quite a bit this week. Another lefty who played well here last year finishing 12th and also coming in with some good form for the most part.
Kevin Na (GPP)
Up and down with his game but can do well here as we have seen in the past with his top 15s.
Matthew Wolff (GPP)
Punt play of the week who could win you a tournament. Anywhere you like Bryson you need to give Wolff a look as well because they usually do well at all the same courses. Wolff has been very bad though so tread with caution.
