Carolina Panthers LT Ikem Ekwonu (appendectomy) appears to be on track to be ready for the opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to The Athletic’s Joe Person. Ekwonu didn’t practice on Thursday, Aug. 28, and likely won’t on Monday either as the players have the long weekend off. However, head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Thursday that he is ‘super hopeful’ that Ekwonu will be available.
