Last week was a good one having the winner JT Poston in the article along with a few others up top. I had a bad week because before it even started Jason Day withdrew killing my only lineup and I just forgot about golf the rest of the week. Now we move over sea a week before The Open. This field is actually really strong and one we will try to smash before we move to yet another major. Let’s get to it!
Course Preview
This week we move our talents to North Berwick to play at The Renaissance Club for the Genesis Scottish Open. This week is a field that consists of 75 DP World Tour players and 75 PGA Tour players. I will not lie to you, this week is not easy to me because the PGA Tour is what I know and when we venture of to guys from the DP World Tour, I don’t know a majority of them. I will try my best to give you everything you need to know to build a good lineup this week. This course is a 7,293 par 71 with five par 3’s, nine par 4’s and four par 5’s. This is a links style course so the real defense to this would be wind if we get it. If not, this course can play very easy, and we could see winning scores in the -20 range. This course provides plenty of rollout in the fairways so even shorter hitters can reach all of these holes. At this course we have seen it three times and two of them played at -20 and better which in 2019 with the wind up the winning score was -5 showing how drastic the change in weather can affect this course.
Stats I am Looking At
- SG: APP
- SG: BS
- BoB gained
- P4: 450-500
- Par 5 scoring
- SG: ARG
Player Breakdown
Top Tier
Jon Rahm – Everybody will be on JT, and I like Rahm this week over him.
Xander Schauffele
Scottie Scheffler
Mid Tier
Collin Morikawa – Love him a lot this week. Won The Open last year at Royal St. Georges which is a comp course.
Jordan Spieth – Skills fit here perfectly.
Viktor Hovland – As long as he does not have to play ARG too much then he will do great.
Cameron Young – Not the greatest in the wind but his stats all line up for this type of course. Going to be a bit of a test this week for him.
Robert MacIntyre – Loved him this week. Stats won’t lineup but great on windy courses and was born in Scotland.
Cameron Smith
Keegan Bradley – Great ball striker and playing well lately.
Joaquin Niemann
Tommy Fleetwood
Corey Conners – One of the better ball strikers in the field. Terrible ARG.
Tyrrell Hatton – I don’t think anybody is going to play him and that makes me love him even more.
Mito Pereira – Struggled at both the U.S Open and Travelers but before that his ball striking was on point.
Alexander Noren – Every time I write him up, he sucks but this should setup well for him this week.
Christiaan Bezuindenhout – I feel like he should make the cut and the way he has been playing lately this could be a good scoring week from him.
Value Tier
Cameron Tringale – I feel like I always play him for some reason. 10th in my model though.
Ryan Palmer – Always like him where I like Rahm and did well here last year.
Jordan Smith
Charley Hoffman – Playing terrible lately but good in the wind and if he’s on then he will do well.
Ian Poulter – Cheap guy who finished 4th last year.
Edoardo Molinari
Adri Arnaus
