The long offseason leading up to the start of the 2020 baseball season is upon us. With the free agency period upon us, we thought it would be wise to put up a tracker so you can see where all those free agents will be calling him moving forward.
Players are listed by position, and then in alphabetical order based on their first name. In parenthesis is listed the players age, and then the WAR from last season. We will list the new team, the contact and then give a quick observation about the player.
In parentheses is first listed the players age followed by his WAR from last year.
TEAM | CONTRACT | COMMENT | |
CATCHER | |||
Alex Avila (33, 1.3) | MIN | 1-yr, $4.25 | Avila can pop the long ball, but his real value is in OBP leagues versus traditional 5×5 setups. He’ll serve as Garver’s backup. |
Austin Romine (31, 0.9) | DET | 1-yr, $4.15M | He will likely start until the team deems Jake Rogers is ready to take over. Romine had a solid season last year in NY going .281/.310/.439. |
Blake Swihart | TEX | Minor Lg. | 28 in April, the former top-25 prospect could carve out a league only role this season for a reserve round bid. |
Chris Iannetta (37, -0.5) | NYY | Minor Lg. | He will only fall into fantasy value when Gary Sanchez is sidelined. |
Drew Butera (36, -0.5) | COL | Minor Lg. | At this point of his career, he’s really organizational depth and an emergency big-league catcher. |
Francisco Cervelli (34, 0.1) | MIA | 1-yr, $2M | Not much of a bat anymore, and health issues are legit. He’s a second catching option in NL-only leagues. |
Jason Castro (33, 1.6) | LAA | $6.85M | A good bet for double-digit homers with a middling batting average. Has had a .332 OBP in 2-of-3 years though he’s hit under .245 in 6-straight years. |
Jonathan Lucroy (34, -0.5) | BOS | 1-yr, $1.5M | Fallen to the point that he will have to battle for bacup duties. |
Martín Maldonado (33, 0.8) | HOU | 2-yr, $7M | He can play defense. He really can’t hit. |
Matt Wieters (34, -0.3) | STL | 1-yr, $2M | An excellent backup, but not a usable fantasy piece as Molina just plays too much. |
Mike Zunino | TB | $4.5M | With d’Arnaud gone, Zunino will likely enter the year as the top backstop in Tampa. |
Nick Hundley (36, -0.3) | RET | He has been hired by MLB as a senior director of baseball operations.
Robinson Chirinos (36, 2.3) | TEX | 1-yr, $6.5M | A solid power hitter who has an average that won’t implode your team, well, at least not too much. He’s hit 17,18,17 homers the last three years with an average of 62 RBI the last two years. |
Russell Martin (37, 1.2)
Stephen Vogt (35, 0.9) | ARI | 1-yr, $3M | Could make $7M if option is picked up. A solid backstop who should lead the team in at-bats at the position. A second C option. |
Travis d’Arnaud (31, 1.6) | ATL | 2-yr, $16M | Coming off a rather impressive campaign, he will share work with Tyler Flowers behind the dish as the one most likely to get the higher PA total. |
Welington Castillo (33, -1.0) | WAS | Minor Lg. | An odd signing. He will be no better than third in the pecking order behind Suzuki and Gomes. |
Yan Gomes (32, 0.8) | WAS | 2-yr, $10M | He stays with the champs. He should split work with Kurt Suzuki like he did last season. |
Yasmani Grandal (31 years old, 5.2 WAR) | CWS | 4-yr, $73M | After turning down 4-60 last year, he gets paid more this year and got $18.25 last year too. One of the best all-around catchers in baseball. |
FIRST BASEMEN | |||
C.J. Cron | DET | 1-yr, $6.1M | He’s gone 30-74 and 25-78 the last two years. He’s a solid power bat that is league average in the AVG/OBP. A potential corner option in mixed leagues. |
Eric Thames (33, 1.9) | WAS | 1-yr, $4M | Taking the space of Matt Adams. He’s only a platoon piece, but Thames can mash righties (OPS last three yrs.: .933, .804 & .877). |
Howie Kendrick (36, 2.9) | WAS | 1-yr, $6.25M | One of “my guys,” the versatile 36 year old returns to where he had a dynamic season last year (.344/.395/.572). he should play most days his body allows him to. |
Jose Abreu (33, 1.9) — received qualifying offer from CWS | CWS | 3-yr, $50 | He accepted the qualifying offer before singing the extention through 2022. Uber consistent run producer. |
Justin Bour (32, -0.4) | JPN | He will play for the Hanshin Tigers.
Justin Smoak (33, 0.2) | MIL | 1-yr, $5M | He’s averaged 28-76 the last three years, and will likely replace Eric Thames’ production. The Brewers have too many OF/1B types… yet again. |
Logan Forsythe (33, 0.2) | PHI | Minor Lg. | A versatile option, Logan is a solid “team” guy, but his offensive game is stuck in neutral. |
Logan Morrison (32, -0.1) | MIL | Minor Lg. | Really hasn’t been any good for years. Pay him no mind. |
Lucas Duda (34, -1.0) | |||
Mark Reynolds (36, -0.8)
Matt Adams (31, -0.1) | NYM | Minor Lg. | Alonso has first on lockdown. Not like there’s a wide open spot in the OF either. |
Mitch Moreland (34, 0.7) | BOS | 1-yr, $3M | He will platoon at first with Chavis. A solid player, but a boring fantasy option. |
Neil Walker (34, 0.4) | PHI | Minor Lg. | Could have a tough time making the O.D. roster. |
Ryan Zimmerman (35, 0.1) | WAS | 1-yr, $2M | He will share time at first base with Thames, and is nothing other than a league specific option. |
Ryon Healy (28, -0.1) | MIL | 1-yr | He went 25-78 and 24-73 in 2017-18 before being limited to just 47 games last season due to ill health. Figures to see time at both corners. |
Steve Pearce (37, -0.9) | RET | He is unofficially retired.
Yonder Alonso (33, -1.2) | ATL | Minor Lg. | Last year was a disaster. Won’t play much at all this year. |
SECOND BASEMAN | |||
Ben Zobrist (39, 0.2) | |||
Brad Miller (30, 1.2) | |||
Brian Dozier (33, 1.7) | |||
Brock Holt (32, 1.3) | MIL | 1-yr , $3.25M | A nice little player who can help out all over the diamond. |
Cesar Hernandez | CLE | 1-yr, $6.25M | He has the ability to go 10/15, though the speed dropping a bit last year. A professoinal hitter, he’s a nice under the radar signing who will take over at second base. |
Chris Owings (28, -0.8) | COL | Minor Lg. | Didn’t hit a lick last year, and might struggled to make the team. |
Eduardo Nuñez (33, -1.0) | NYM | 1-yr, $1.25M | Has a solid shot to make the team. Last year was an injury filled disaster, but he did go 7 with a .265 averaged in 2018, and he is versatile. |
Eric Sogard (34 years old, 2.6 WAR) | MIL | 1-yr, $4.5M | He had a nice season hitting .290 with 13 homers and eight steals. A nice support piece, but not of interest in mixed leagues. |
Hernán Pérez (29, -0.2) | CHC | Minor Lg. | He can play all over the diamond and brings a bit if pop/speed. Barring injury, he’s merely a decent NL-only addition. |
Jason Kipnis (33, 1.1) | CHC | Minor Lg. | Seems like a nice veteran signing but a boring one for fantasy purposes. |
Jonathan Schoop (28, 1.3) | DET | 1-yr, $6.1M | Has holes, but also has pop with 25, 32, 21 and 23 homers the last four years. |
Jose Peraza | BOS | 1-yr, $3M | Can play all over the place. Not a great landing spot for playing time though. Just an AL-only add. |
Josh Harrison (32, -0.6) | PHI | Minor Lg. | Over two injury filled campaigns, the scrappy player has hit .229/.272/.335. |
Scooter Gennett (30, -0.5)
Starlin Castro (30, 1.3) | WAS | 2-yr, $12M | Sounds like the plan is for him to play second. Just 29 years of age, he already has 1,617 hits and went .270-22-86 last season. |
Wilmer Flores (28, 1.1) | ARI | 2-yr, $6M | Was tremendous last year. Will push for playing time and could impact Mauricio Dubon’s work. |
Yangervis Solarte (32, -0.3) | ATL | Minor Lg. | An ideal final bench piece because of his versatility… if his slumberin bat can reawaken. |
THIRD BASEMEN | |||
Anthony Rendon (30 years old, 7.0 WAR) — received qualifying offer from WSH | LAA | 7-yr, $245M | A massive deal. Will hit next to Trout and produce big numbers. An avg effort the last four years is .299-26-101-94 with a .384 OBP. |
Asdrúbal Cabrera (34, 1.9) | WAS | 1-yr, $2.5M | Can help all over the infield. Role will be determined by if the Nats bring anyone in to play 3B full time. |
Jedd Gyorko (31, -0.7) | MIL | 1-yr, $2M | Been a rough few years. Likely to see some platoon work at third base for the Brewers. |
Josh Donaldson (34, 4.9) | MIN | 4-yr, $92M | Rebounded last year and shoudl replicate his production in a potent Twins lineup that boasts and array of power bats. |
Jung Ho Kang (33, -0.9) | |||
Maikel Franco | KC | 1-yr, $3M | He doesn’t strike out and can hit 20+ homers with a moderate average and poor OBP. Can’t see another floor being reached. |
Martín Prado (36, -1.2) | RET | It’s official, he retired.
Mike Moustakas (31, 2.8) | CIN | 4-yr, $64M | Moose will play second base – with Votto/Suarez at the corners – and it’s a good place to hit. The 2B/3B eligibility is terrific in the fantasy game. |
Pablo Sandoval (33, 1.0) | SF | 1-yr, $2M | He might start slowly coming back from Tommy John surgery, but he should play enough to be a solid addition in an NL-only league. |
Ryan Flaherty (33, -0.2) | RET | Was hired by the Padres to coach.
Todd Frazier (34, 1.9) | TEX | 1-yr, $5M | For now, it appears that Todd will be the starting 3B. He wasn’t awful last year at .251/.329/.443, and should be a similar type of performer this year. |
Travis Shaw | TOR | 1-yr, $4M | Shaw was a flat out disaster last year. However, he did go deep 63 times with 187 RBI in 2017-18 & at 30 years of age should/could rebound. |
SHORTSTOP | |||
Adeiny Hechavarría (31, 0.7) | ATL | 1-yr, $1M | He really can’t hit very well, but he does have a solid glove. There’s no discernable fantasy value though. |
Didi Gregorius (30, 0.9) | PHI | 1-yr, $14M | A stopgap deal. He will hope to strike it big after the year. Strong lineup, and a good park to hit in. Solid but, but not elite. |
Jordy Mercer (33, 0.6) | DET | Minor Lg. | A good glove, but the bat, and team, are oh so boring. |
José Iglesias (30 years old, 1.6 WAR) | BAL | 1-yr, $3M | He was 7th at Fangraphs DEF at SS and 7th in UZR. Seems unlikely to get double-digit homer again and has just one season in four with more than seven steals. Boring. |
LEFT FIELD | |||
Alex Gordon (36, 1.3) | KC | 1-yr, $4M | A better real world player than fantasy option. Doesn’t figure to be anything other than a league specific option. |
Brett Gardner (36 years old, 3.6 WAR) | NYY | 1-yr, $12.5M | Coming off his best power season. Also has an option year. Should play LF and see most of the ABs against RHP. |
Carlos González (34, -0.6) | SEA | $750K, 1Yr | He will try to resurrect his career in Florida. |
Corey Dickerson (31, 1.0) | MIA | 2-yr, $17.5M | He needs to be in a platoon (on the bench against lefties), but he can really hit. Last year he went .302-12-59 with a .906 OPS in just 78 games with the PHI/PIT. |
Curtis Granderson (39, -1.4) | RET | In 2011-12 he hit 84 homers with 225 RBI, 238 runs and 35 steals.
Gerardo Parra (33, -0.2) | JPN | It’s unclear if he will appear in another big league game or not at this point. Baby shark…
Marcell Ozuna (29, 2.6) — received qualifying offer from STL | ATL | 1-yr, $18M | He should make waves with Acuna/Freeman in ATL. A strong run producer, he should be able to eclipse last year’s numbers with health. |
Matt Kemp (35, -0.8) | MIA | Minor Lg. | The 35 year old was once a star. Now, he’s just hoping to make the big league club. Coming off a lost season of less than 65 plate appearances. Nl-only play. |
Peter Bourjos (33, -0.5) | RET | He was hired as an advanced scout by the Rockies.
Rajai Davis (39, 0.0) | MEX | Will try to blaze a return path to the majors by suitnig up for Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League.
CENTER FIELD | |||
Austin Jackson (33, N/A)
Billy Hamilton (29, 0.4) | SF | Minor Lg. | Can still run and play defense. Unclear how much PT he will get in SF. |
Carlos Gómez (34, -0.1) | Word is that he will hang up the cleats.
Jarrod Dyson (35, 1.3) | PIT | 1-yr | He could play against all righties, bat leadoff, and steal lots of bases. |
Juan Lagares (31, -0.8) | SD | Minor Lg. | Owns a great glove, but a suspect bat. Will struggle for relvance. |
Keon Broxton (30, -0.8) | MIL | Minor Lg. | At one point he had 20/20 dreams. Just can’t make enough contact to fulfill those dreams. |
Domingo Santana | CLE | 1-yr, $1.5M | He has contact issues, but he employs a serious power bat that has hit at as many as 30 homers, and he did steal 15 bags a few years ago. |
Mason Williams (28, -0.1)
RIGHT FIELD | |||
Adam Jones (34, -0.1) | JPN | 2-yr, $8M | Surprisingly taking his talents across the ocean. Mr. Relieable will now ply his trade in a foreign land. |
Avisaíl García (29, 1.8) | MIL | 3-yr, $20M | His acquisition will move Braun to first. Garcia isn’t great, but you could do a hell of a lot worse for a depth OF in the fantasy game as he’s solid across the board. |
Cameron Maybin (33, 1.6) | DET | 1-yr, $1.5M | Should see a good deal of work, and even with advancing age, he can still run. |
Jon Jay (35, -0.9) | ARI | 1-yr, $1.5M | No power, no speed. Just a guy with no value in fantasy. |
Kole Calhoun (32, 2.5) | ARI | 2-yr, $16M | Coming off a career best power season (32-92), the 32 year old outfielder has averaged .248-22-70-83 the last six years leaving him as a solid depth mixed league option. |
Lonnie Chisenhall (31, N/A)
Matt Joyce (35, 1.2) | MIA | 1-yr, $1.5M | Still a heck of a platoon player. He hit .295 with a .408 OBP last year. |
Melky Cabrera (35, -0.7) | He wants to keep playing.
Nicholas Castellanos (28 , 2.8) | CIN | 4-yr, $64M | Opts out in two of the four years give him tons of control. Mr. Double lands in a great spot to potentially post career best numbers. |
Yasiel Puig (29, 1.2) | |||
DESIGNATED HITTER | |||
Edwin Encarnación (37, 2.5) | CWS | 1-yr, $12M | His average effort is 27-106 the last eight years. He’s old, but he can still sock it and went 34-86-81 last year in just 109 games. |
Hanley Ramirez (36, -0.2) | What happened last year?
Hunter Pence (37, 1.8) | SF | 1-yr, $3M | A Giants reunion. He will likely be a part-time player even coming off last seasons unexpected heroics. |
Kendrys Morales (37, -0.8) | RET | Rides off into the sunset.
Mark Trumbo (34, -0.3) | |||
STARTING PITCHER | |||
Adam Wainwright (38, 2.2) | STL | 1-yr, $5M | The 38 year old righty made 31 starts last year, won 14 games and had 153 Ks. |
Alex Wood (29, -0.2) | LAD | 1-yr, $4M | Wood was an injured mess last year, but a year ago, with the Dodgers, he had a 3.68 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 151.2 innings. He’s a solid ratio hurler when healthy. |
Andrew Cashner (33, 1.8)
Brett Anderson (32, 2.0) | MIL | 1-yr, $5M | It’s legitimately a plan. The Brewers think they can win, have for years now, with a bunch of 4/5 big league starters. Anderson fits perfectly into that mold. |
Clay Buchholz (35, 0.1)
Clayton Richard (36, -0.2)
Cole Hamels (36, 2.5) | ATL | 1-yr, $18M | Hamels is no longer a star, and innings are a concern, but he was still effective last year and the Ks are continually plentiful. |
Dallas Keuchel (32, 0.8) | CWS | 3-yr, $55.5M | Not elite, but solid innings eater that will help stabilize CWS rotation. Rather see him in NL, but facing Royals/Tigers is nice. |
Derek Holland (33, -1.0) | PIT | Minor Lg. | Was awful last year. He will look to fill a swingman role in Pittsburgh. |
Drew Smyly (29, -0.3) | SF | 1-yr | The Giants will apparently give the oft-injured one a shot to start. Had more Ks than IP last year. |
Edinson Vólquez (36, -0.2) | TEX | Minor Lg. | He intends to keep on pitching. |
Edwin Jackson (36, -1.1) | ARI | Minors Lg. | He’s already pitched for the D’backs, so his record sits at 14 teams, for now. |
Ervin Santana (37, -0.4)
Félix Hernández (34, -0.1) | ATL | 1-yr, $1M | He’s lost all his once formidable luster, so he bares no real attention in mixed leagues. He will try to latch on as the Braves 5th starter. |
Gerrit Cole (29 years old, 7.4 WAR) — received qualifying offer from HOU | NYY | 9-yr, $324M | An absurd amount of money and years for the 29 year old. Moves into a harder place to pitch but is coming off one of the better seasons the past decade. |
Gio Gonzalez (34, 1.4) | CWS | 1-yr, $5M | Last year first under 155 IP since 2009. Veteran is still midly effective, but boring. |
Héctor Noesi (33, -0.3)
Homer Bailey (34, 2.9) | MIN | 1-yr, $7M | Bailey was solid enough with the A’s last year with a 4.30 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 68 Ks in 73.1 IP. He’s a decent enough back end option. |
Hyun-Jin Ryu (33, 4.8) | TOR | 4-yr, $80M | Coming off an outstanding season, he signs in a terrible division to pitch. Add in health woes that have been ever present, and this contract has the air of disaster around it. |
Iván Nova (33, 2.0) | DET | 1-yr, $1.5M | As boring as it gets. Not fantasy relevant, and barely big league relevant at this point as well. |
Jake Odorizzi (30, 4.3) — received qualifying offer from MIN | MIN | * | Accepted the qualifying offer to stay with his team. Get’s one year at $17.8 million. |
Jason Vargas (37, 1.8) | |||
Jeremy Hellickson (33, -0.1)
Jhoulys Chacín (32, -0.1) | MIN | Minor Lg. | A depth signing. Might need an injury to get a starting shot. |
Jordan Lyles (29, 1.6) | TEX | 2-yr, $16M | The uptick in strikeouts wasn’t supported by the swinging strike rate, and the ratios were just blah anyway. |
Julio Teheran (29, 1.6) | LAA | 1-yr, $9M | 7 years in a row over 170-innings with at least 150 strikeouts. Doesn’t move the needle, and walks are an issue, but stable. |
Kyle Gibson (32, 2.5) | TEX | 3-yr, $30M | It worked last year with Lance Lynn. Gibson is a stable innings eater but he’s unlikely to break-out at 32 yrs of age. |
Madison Bumgarner (30, 3.2) — received qualifying offer from SF | ARI | 5-yr, $85M | He stays in the division to torment his previous team. No longer elite, many have written his epitaph far too quickly. He’s still a very solid hurler. |
Marco Estrada (36, -0.2) | Oh that back.
Martín Pérez (29, 1.9) | BOS | 1-yr, $6M | The replacement for Porcello. He brings the strikeout, but his ratios swelled to unacceptable levels last season as the innings piled up. |
Matt Harvey (31, -0.3) | Has lost it.
Matt Moore (31, 0.5) | JPN | 1-yr, $3.5M | The 30 year old lefty will try to resurrect his career in Japan. |
Michael Pineda (30, 2.7) | MIN | 2-yr, $17.6M | He will miss the first quarter of the year, but should return to be a reliable source of quality innings when he keeps the ball in the yard. |
Michael Wacha (28, -0.2) | NYM | 1-yr, $3M | Could earn up to $10 M if he hits all his incentives. He’s averaged 4.39 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 129 IP the last four seasons. |
Odrisamer Despaigne (33, -0.1)
Rich Hill (40, 0.9) | MIN | 1-yr, $3M | Hill is 40 and had elbow surgery in October. He was dominant in his 58.2 innings last season, but there is no telling how he rebounds from surgery, and he’s always hurt. |
Rick Porcello (31, 1.8) | NYM | 1-yr, $10M | One of the most consistent innings eaters in the game, he was awful last year and has been a league average pitcher for three years now. |
Ross Detwiler (34, -0.6)
Shelby Miller (29, -0.2) | MIL | Minor Lg. | His fastball was in the mid 90’s last season, but nearly six walks per nine innings made that heat a non-factor. |
Stephen Strasburg (31, 5.7) — opted out of contract; received qualifying offer from WSH | WAS | 7-yrs, $245M | He “earned” the deal, but there is no way this deal will look good in five years. For now, expect more of the same in ’20. |
Tanner Roark (33, 2.0) | TOR | 2-yr, $24M | He’s made 30 starts in 4-straight season. He’s nothing other than a solid innings eater, and a very moderate mixed league option. |
Trevor Cahill (32, -0.8) | SFG | Minor Lg. | Another reclamation project for the Giants. Pay him no mind in mixed leagues. |
Tyson Ross (33, 0.0) | SF | 1-yr, $1.75M | A one-time punchout start, he was healthy enough to make just seven starts last season. A good landing spot, and he could make the rotation out of camp. |
Wade LeBlanc (35, -0.3) | BAL | Minor Lg. | A decent enough organizational arm, but just not worth a look in fantasy. |
Wade Miley (33, 2.0) | CIN | 2-yr, $15M | Miley is a solid innings eater. He’s also a maddening own who can carry you for a month, or send you crying with utterly horrible performances. A fine signing, but nothing very interesting in fantasy. |
Zack Wheeler (30, 4.7) — received qualifying offer from NYM | PHI | 5-yr, $118M | Lots of money for a guy who had less than a K per inning, a 1.26 WHIP and a 3.96 ERA last season. Lots of projection in the deal. |
RELIEF PITCHER | |||
Aaron Loup (32, 0.1) | |||
Adam Warren (32, -0.8) | |||
Addison Reed (31, N/A) | |||
Anthony Swarzak (34, -0.7)
Arodys Vizcaíno (29, -0.1)
Brad Brach (34, 0.7) | NYM | 1-yr, $850K | He’s going to earn $1.35M in total as the Cubs are still paying him too. |
Brandon Kintzler (35, 0.9) | MIA 1-yr, $3.25M | An ideal setup man. He could see save chances in uncertain bullpen.
Blake Treinen | LAD | 1-yr, $10 | Two years ago, he had one of the best relief seasons ever. Last year, he wasn’t even league average. A solid landing spot where he will likely slide into the setup role. |
Brandon Morrow (35, N/A) | CHC | 1-yr, $1M | Long one of my favorites, he’s more likely to end up hurt than he is to pitch. Wish him well, but his durabiliy factor grades out as an F. |
Bud Norris (35, N/A) | PHI | Minor Lg. | He can start. He can relieve. He’s not really good at either task. |
Chad Bettis (31, 0.1) | |||
Chris Martin (34, 1.0) | |||
Cody Allen (31, -0.7) | TEX | 1-yr, $1.3M | Had 27 saves in 2018 and in 4-of-5 seasons he posted at least that many (he fell to four last season). |
Collin McHugh (33, 0.5)
Cory Gearrin (34, 0.3) | |||
Craig Stammen (36, 0.4) | SD | 2yr, $9M | The 35 yr. old has a 5:1 BB/K ratio the last two years while makin 149 appearances as one of the better setup men in the NL. |
Dan Otero (35, -0.1) | |||
Daniel Hudson (33, 0.9) | WAS | 2-yr, $11M | Fittingly back with the Nats. He’s a solid bullpen arm, but there’s not much to get excited about with Daniel unless he falls into 9th inning work which doesn’t seem likely at the moment. |
Darren O’Day (37, 0.1) | |||
David Hernandez (35, 0.3) | WAS | Minor Lg. | Was hideous last year. |
David Phelps (33, 0.1) | MIL | 1-yr, $1.5M | Phelps will try to recover his luster after a down year because of injury. Obviously, he’s not close to a closing option. |
Dellin Betances (32, 0.1) | NYM | 1-yr, $10.5M | Last year was a disaster, but the previous five years there wasn’t a more dominant right-handed setup man in baseball. |
Drew Pomeranz (31, 0.7) | SD | 4-yr, $34M | A failure until he went to the pen to dominate with 45 punchouts over 26.1 IP. Still, seems like a massive amount of $. |
Fernando Abad (34, -0.1)
Fernando Rodney (43, 0.4)
Francisco Liriano (36, 0.3) | PHI | Minor Lg. | He can still get guys out even at age 36. A solid bullpen arm. |
Greg Holland (34, -0.1) | KC | Minor Lg. | It wasn’t too long ago that he was closing games, but a minor league deal with this franchise shows just how far down the totem pole he is at this point. |
Héctor Rondón (32, -0.2) | ARI | 1-yr, $3M | He’s a solidly skilled hurler capable of a punchout an inning with ratios that won’t hurt ya. Value moves up in holds leagues. |
Héctor Santiago (32, -0.1)
Jake Diekman (33, 1.0) | OAK | 2-yr, $7.5M | Walks are a huge issue (5.7 BB/9), but he misses bats (12.2 K/9, 15.6 swinging strike rate). |
Jared Hughes (34, -0.5)
JC Ramírez (31, 0.0) | |||
Jeremy Jeffress (32, 0.3) | MIL | 1-yr, $850K | At one point there was some excitement, but arm woes and a loss of velocity doomed his ’19 effort. At this point, he’s a league specific option only. |
Jerry Blevins (36, 0.0)
Joe Smith (36, 0.4) | HOU | 2-yr, $8M | He’s one of the better setup man in the game. Still, he’s only worth rostering in AL-only leagues. |
Jonny Venters (35, -0.4)
Josh Fields (34, N/A) | |||
Josh Tomlin (35, 0.2) | |||
Juan Nicasio (33, 0.5) | |||
Luis Avilán (30, -0.1) | |||
Kevin Gausman | SF | 1-yr, $9M | Seems like the Giants intent is to let the soon to be 29 yr. old right start, a role he has had limited success with in the past. |
Luke Gregerson (36, 0.1)
Matt Albers (37, 0.0) | |||
Miguel Del Pozo (27, -0.3)
Mike Dunn (35, 0.0) | |||
Nate Jones (34, -0.1) | |||
Nick Tropeano (29, -0.4)
Nick Vincent (33, 0.1) | |||
Pat Neshek (39, -0.3) | |||
Pedro Strop (35, 0.0) | CIN | 1-yr, $1.825M | A solid middle reliever coming off a down season. A bit surprising he ended up in Cincy. |
Robbie Erlin (29, 0.5) | |||
Sam Dyson (32, 0.9) | |||
Sergio Romo (37, 1.0) | MIN | 1-yr, $5M | Romo is a guy who keeps hanging around, and you now what, he’s pretty damn solid. Always seems to find his way to double-digit saves. |
Seunghwan Oh (37, -0.3)
Shawn Kelley (36, -0.2)
Steve Cishek (34, 0.2) | CWS | 1-yr, $6M | The last four years and average Cishek effort is four wins, nine saves, a 2.52 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 9.3 Ks per nine over 65 games. |
Tommy Hunter (33, 0.2) | |||
Tommy Milone (33, 0.1) | |||
Tony Barnette (36, -0.1)
Tony Cingrani (30, N/A)
Tony Sipp (36, 0.3) | |||
Trevor Rosenthal (30, -0.3)
Tyler Clippard (35, 0.7) | MIN | 1-yr, $2.75M | Had a 2.90 ERA, more than a K per inning, just over two walks per nine and a nearly 14 percent swinging strike rate. He can still get outs. |
Tyler Lyons (32, -0.1) | |||
Tyler Thornburg (31, -0.1)
Will Harris (35, 1.1) | WAS | 3-yr, $24M | A boring name, but a really good game. Since 2015, minimum 150 outings, his 2.36 ERA is third in baseball. |
Will Smith (30, 1.2) | ATL | 3-yr, $39M | It sounds like the initial plan is for Mark Melancon to remain the official closer. |
Wily Peralta (31, -0.4)
Xavier Cedeño (33, 0.0)
Yoshihisa Hirano (36, 0.5) | SEA | 1-yr, $1.6M | Wasn’t great last year, but it’s possible that he could get 9th inning work. |
Zach Duke (37, -0.4) |
