Last week for Elite was actually pretty good. I saw a lot of people making money on both the main slate and all the showdown rounds as well. As I mentioned in chat this week, I am focusing more on content than playing myself and so far, it has shown to be the right move as it helped other cash this week. I am going to be doing the same thing from here on out to try and help you guys do the best you can every single week. Now, let’s get to it!
Course Preview
This week we move to TPC Louisiana, which is another course that was designed by Pete Dye and has Bermuda greens over, seeded with Poa kind of like last week. Pete Dye courses are usually second shot course and that does not change here as you will need to be accurate off the tee and a good long iron player to avoid the trouble around the greens. TPC Louisiana is a 7,500 Par 72 course with 10 par 4’s 4 par 3’s and 4 par 5’s. There is a bunch of scoring to be had here as we saw last year where Leishman and Cam smith won at -21. This week is going to be 80 teams of 2 and after Thursday and Friday we will have top 33 and ties left for the weekend. On Thursday we have Four Ball where each golfer in groups play their balls and say one teammate gets a par and the other gets a birdie you are awarded with the birdie. On Friday we have Foursomes, which is alternate shot so if you tee off on even numbered holes the other person tees off on odd numbered holes. Also, to note that you do not need to play both teammates in one lineup as they both score the same amount as the other and are the same priced.
Stats I am Looking at
SG: T2G
BoB gained
Par scoring 450-500
SG: P
Player Breakdown
Collin Morikawa/Viktor Hovland – This might be one of the most unfair teams to everybody in the field. Yea they have their weeks where they struggle but imagine if they both come in hot? They might win by 5 shots. Only kind of kidding but they are a great team.
Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele – I would have to imagine this group of Cantlay and Xander will be pretty chalky. They both are top 10 in this field in my model and came 11th here last year. This group will be fun to watch or very tilting.
Cameron Smith/Marc Leishman – Last year’s champs are back and looking to defend their title. Leishman has started to find his groove as of late and that for sure helps this group because Cam smith is playing out of his mind in recent events.
Sam Burns/Billy Horschel – Very expensive grouping but really, him and Billy fit each other so well and we have Bermuda burns week when he is putting. Also, to top it off they finished T4 last year.
Scottie Scheffler/Ryan Palmer – He is paired with Ryan Palmer who likes to be paired with some of the tops golfers and you cannot fault him for that. Finishes well here but that was with Rahm. They play similar games so interesting to see this group this week.
Adam Hadwin/Adam Svensson – Love this group this week to be honest. You have Svensson who has amazing irons and then you have Hadwin with his good as well. He is one of the best putters and they fit so well together.
Davis Riley/Will Zalatoris – Zalatoris is a very good golfer who competes with the best and Riley is a good talent who can get it done.
Justin Rose/Henrik Stenson – This is a nice grouping here as both of these guys play well on Pete Dye designed courses. These guys also finished 11th last year.
Keegan Bradley/Brendan Steele – Weird grouping here but I really can see them finishing top 15 and paying off the salary here. Both play Pete Dye courses well.
Tommy Fleetwood/Sergio Garcia – This grouping is one where they are either going to smash and score a bunch of points or miss the cut. These two played together in 2019 and finished 2nd so they have upside.
Chris Kirk/Brendon Todd – This might be one of my favorite mid-range team on the week. You have Kirk who can do pretty much everything but putt and then you have Todd who is one of top putters in the field. Love this group.
Wyndham Clark/Cameron Tringale – This is an interesting GPP team this week who both have up and down weeks and put them together and it will be scoring or miss the cut kind of like the Fleetwood group.
Maverick McNealy/Joseph Bramlett – I really only like this group mainly for Mav but they theoretically can make the cut and finish top 20.
Doug Ghim/Matthias Schwab – Ghim finished top 11 last year with Suh and I believe Schwab is a bit of a step up in talent. I see them doing well.
Beau Hossler/Sahith Theegala – I actually think this group has some upside this week but massive downside as well.
Joel Dahmen/Stephen Jaeger – I think Dahmen with any other teammate would be awesome but all he needs is for Jaeger to do anything to have a good week.
Rafa Cabrera Bello/Emiliano Grillo – This group is super volatile but Grill has some good irons and Rafa needs to get his card back so I can see some motivation here.
Doc Redman/Sam Ryder – This team can put up a bunch of birdies this week and do well. They finished T17 last year here as well.
Charley Hoffman/Nick Watney – Just have to hope Hoffman is healthy here because when he is he is a good player and great on Pete Dye design courses.
Chase Seiffert/Hank lebioda – Not much to love below $7k but you really just need these teams to make the cut to have a chance I think they can.
Seung-Yul Noh/Michael Kim – Noh stats line up on Pete Dye courses and this team is super cheap.
