Armando Marsal takes a look at notable trends in snap counts and usage from last week.
Like I do every year, I will dive into offensive snap counts after each week. This article will focus on identifying changes, trends, and things we should be taking note of for players and their opportunities. Snap counts are a part of my weekly analysis because they gauge how often a player is on the field, which could translate into potential opportunity to produce fantasy points. Even though playing time does not always translate into fantasy points, the path to scoring fantasy points is easier for those players on the field. Looking at snap counts and comparing them to volume/touches also gives us a clear picture of a player’s role in their offense. Some positions, such as quarterbacks, are straight forward, but others not so much.
I will focus primarily on situations that we need to be keeping a close eye on and situations that stand out to me. At the end of the article I will include a spreadsheet with all the weekly snap counts for all teams, along with the YTD snap counts.
