Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (knee) starting the 2022 season on the Physically Unable to Perform List and missing the first six games as he continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament wouldn’t be surprising to The Athletic’s Greg Auman. ‘The optimistic view would be that he’s back practicing during preseason and close enough to be on the initial 53-man roster,’ Auman writes. ‘But the goal is to have him fully healthy when it matters most this season, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they took a slower approach and had him on the physically unable to perform list for the first six weeks of the season, leaning on Russell Gage as the No. 2 early in the year.’
