2002 Samples

Note: Before you check this samples out please consider:

1. We updated the design of our subscriber area so the pages you see do not give a true feel for being in our subscriber are.

2. We have streamlined a lot of content this year so we do not have exact samples of our content.  For example, in year's past we produced extensive game previews AND a weekly feature called "The Looking Glass" that detailed players who are looking better or worse than usual for the week.  We have combined the two features because they overlapped too much so we have listed only a sample of The Looking Glass.

3. We have included only in-season samples.  We have some sample content on our homepage which will give you an idea of our pre-season content (actually, we produce a ton more and it's far superior). Click on the "What you get" link to see what we do in the preseason.

Monday Report:

  • The Stock Watch - A weekly feature detailing which players’ (offensive and defensive) stock is rising or falling with reasons why. Usually covered 25-30 players. You’ve likely seen the stock market analogy before – but we were the first to do it.
  • The Waiver Wire - This column will fill you in on (mostly obscure) players who are worth picking up and who should be available in your league. We rank all the WW players by position and break them down into "Must-Have" players, "Solid Pickups" and "Decent Options." Of course, we have extensive analysis on each player.
  • Inside the Boxscore – No time to watch all the games? No problem! Each week, we look at every play from every game and offer up interesting and hard-to-find stats (such as the number of passes thrown to each RB, WR and TE) and game analysis from strictly a fantasy perspective. During the season, we track the number of passes thrown to each receiver and spot the trends before they are trends. Again, we were the first to do such analysis starting in the late 90s.
  • Injury Updates – We offer up a comprehensive overview of each of the week’s injured players with an early outlook for the upcoming week.
  • Game Comments & Observations – If something happened in a game that has fantasy significance that you might not hear about elsewhere, you’ll find it here.

Tuesday Report:

  • Monday Night Wrap-up – We produce a Stock Watch and go Inside the Boxscore for the Monday Night game.
  • Injury Updates – We offer up a quick look at each of the week’s injured players with an early outlook for the upcoming week.
  • Players to Trade and Trade for – In one of our most valuable features in 2002 because of its accuracy, we take a look at all players and list those you should seriously consider trading and trading for based mostly on their current perceived values versus their future potential.
  • The Rest-of-the-Way Report – Each week, we list each team’s remaining schedule and offer a quick-glance overview of their opponents’ strength against the run and the pass. This is great for evaluating player pickups and trades.
  • Season Player Rankings – Each week we list rankings for the rest of the season at QB, RB, WR, TE, PK, and DT. We even give our projected weekly averages for yards and TDs for each player (excluding PKs).
  • Updated Depth Charts – Not only do we list the depth charts, but we also list roles like goal-line back, 3rd down back, etc.

Wednesday Report:

  • Weekly Player Rankings & Projections – To help you with player pickups and trades, we rank the players for the week and include projected yardage and TD numbers for all players ranked. For defensive teams and players, we project sacks, tackles, and INTs.
  • Hansen on Strategy – Publisher John Hansen’s weekly column looks at fantasy football strategies from a wide variety of angles. These will be on topics such as: team maintenance with regard to player schedules, commissioning, understanding the trends, keeping up with the league's top backup players who are only an injury away from starting, and more.
  • News, Notes, and Injury Updates – We offer extensive updated news and rumors circulating in the NFL and how they translate to fantasy football in addition to any pertinent injury updates (teams usually don’t practice on Tuesdays so there usually isn’t much injury news from Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon).
  • In-Season Trade Analyzer - Starting each Wednesday with this report (and continuing throughout the week), log in, give us your league's scoring rules and the two sides of a proposed trade. We'll then spit out the total fantasy points for each side of the trade we project for the rest of the season to give you an idea of which side would be getting the better end of the deal.
  • In-Season Free Agent Roster Picker – Give us the available players you're looking at and your league's scoring rules, and we'll spit out a ranking of the free agents based upon what we project them to average fantasy points-wise for the rest of the season.
  • Office Pool Picks – For those with little time to analyze the match-ups for their office pool, we offer our picks at a quick glance.
  • Schedule Analysis – Each week we offer up a different schedule analysis. Usually we rank the teams (on an ongoing basis) in terms of ease of schedule against the run and the pass, but we also preview the crucial playoff weeks (at various times during the season) and rank the players in the same terms. As the playoffs approach, we even analyze the schedules to find players on teams with easy schedules leading up to the playoffs, so a fantasy owner can acquire a player or two to push him or her into the fantasy playoffs.
  • Red Zone Analysis – We periodically analyze the numbers and let you know which players are getting the most touches in the red zone and which are most successful in the red zone.

Friday Report:

  • Roster Picker – No time to read out reports? No problem! Give us your roster, the number of players you can start at each position, and your league's scoring rules. We'll then spit out a projected lineup, complete with a quick sentence on each player's outlook for the week and even with an alert if one of your players is on our Injury Report.
  • Game Center – We wrap up the week with an in-depth look at each upcoming NFL game. For each game, here’s what we provide:
  • We take a detailed look at the players who are looking better or worse than usual (with analysis why) as well as the players who aren’t looking particularly better or worse than usual.
  • The current injury updates for each game
  • Each key player’s recent history against his opponents, including stats
  • The weather report for the game
  • Each team defense’s stats and current rankings against the run and the pass
  • Our all-important Production Tracker data. With the PT, we offer an overview of each team and the actual production (weekly average) they give up specifically to QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs. For PKs, we list and update each week the points each team gives up against PKs. This can be helpful when looking for a PK to pick up. Not only do we do that, but we also list the production that each team has given up each week and the specific players they've given it up to. So if you’re thinking of starting, say, Michael Bennett against the Packers, you can see exactly how many yards the Packers have given up to opposing RBs the last six weeks and exactly who those backs were. This is a great tool for making those tough lineup decisions, and our analysis here is also worked into our game previews.
  • News, Notes, and Lineup Updates – We publish any current news updates you need to know about, complete with any lineup updates you need to know about. So if your starting WR is in his coach's doghouse or if your backup WR, whom you need to start in the upcoming week, gets benched, you'll know about it.
  • Weekly Offensive and Defensive Player Rankings & Projections – Updated from Wednesday.

Weekend Update (Saturday):

  • Injury Updates – Updated through the Friday practices, we produce an extensive injury roundup for each player of consequence (offensive and defensive). We even go as far to suggest when certain injuries (OL, DL, CB, etc.) may have an effect on the fantasy performances of others. Take the weekends off without worrying about missing some crucial information.
  • News & Notes Updates – If there's anything pertinent to report, we do just that.
  • Updated Player Rankings & Projections and Roster Picker – We update all the weekly projections taking into account the Friday practices.
  • Weather Updates – If there's a weather-related problem – like rain, snow, sleet, mud, wind – in a particular city, we'll let you know about it here.

Quick Update (Sunday):

  • Sunday Injury Updates - We'll have a "quick update" available by e-mail or on the Web by 11:30am ET. The length of this report is dependent upon the number of key injuries still up-in-the-air as of Sunday. We continue to update the injury situations online until gametime.
  • Sunday Morning Weather Update
