WR Keeper Overviews

It’s time to take a look at the WRs for keeper leagues. This position is tough because there’s always a huge drop-off after the true studs, and players can quickly go from being very productive to fantasy afterthoughts. That said I would place a premium on the studs at the position, especially the best of the best.

When we’re talking about the best of the best at WR, we’re talking about guys like

Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne, and Calvin Johnson. These guys are young, in mostly good situations, and are clearly elite, if not dominant. I’d view keeping him as a top priority, and I’d only keep a handful of RBs over them.

Chief WR Dwayne Bowe may not be a freak talent, but he is on the cusp of being considered elite and could be the next "stud" at the position, especially with his QB position upgraded this off-season.

There’s nothing wrong with the next tier of top receivers, and I also view them a studs: Greg Jennings, Roddy White, Steve Smith, Anquan Boldin, Braylon Edwards, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dwayne Bowe, Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens. These guys aren’t all perfect, like Edward for example, but they are either [...]

RB Keeper Overviews

It’s been a few weeks since I broke out my QB Keeper Overviews here, and it’s already time to update them. But before I do that I’m going to try to bang out the other key positions within the next week and catch completely up.

Next up, it’s the RBs.

At first glance, while there is good depth, I notice a little bit of a void when it comes to true studs at the position. So if you’re in a keeper league that retains only 3-4 players, I advise your approach your keepers much like you should have been approaching a standard redraft league the last two years: don’t take a RB just because he’s a RB and take the best players, period. Keep in mind, of course, the pool of attractive options will increase after the draft.

That said about the lack of quality at the top, I’m personally ranking some young guys who I do think are for real very high, even though they’ve really only “done it” for one year.

Let’s take a look at the top guys.

There aren’t many RBs who are clearly their team’s workhorse, so if you have one on your team, and he’s a young stud, then [...]

  • Position Battle Playing Time for First Full Week of Preseason Action August 13, 2014
We continue to update the position battles around the league, but in this blog, I thought looking at preseason playing time would be interesting. The depth chart doesn’t always tell the whole story and it’s certainly worth noting when players get in the game and who they get to play with, whether it’s with the first-team offense or the backups. If you’re loo […]

  • Poll Result Analysis: RB Sleeper Candidate Targets August 12, 2014
Over the last week, we posted a poll asking you which RB sleeper candidate was at the top of your targets list. The results varied throughout the week and Falcon rookie RB Devonta Freeman led most of the way, but things certainly changed after a full week of preseason games:                           As you can see, the final results put 49er rookie RB Carlo […]
