WR Keeper Overviews

It’s time to take a look at the WRs for keeper leagues. This position is tough because there’s always a huge drop-off after the true studs, and players can quickly go from being very productive to fantasy afterthoughts. That said I would place a premium on the studs at the position, especially the best of the best.

When we’re talking about the best of the best at WR, we’re talking about guys like

Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne, and Calvin Johnson. These guys are young, in mostly good situations, and are clearly elite, if not dominant. I’d view keeping him as a top priority, and I’d only keep a handful of RBs over them.

Chief WR Dwayne Bowe may not be a freak talent, but he is on the cusp of being considered elite and could be the next "stud" at the position, especially with his QB position upgraded this off-season.

There’s nothing wrong with the next tier of top receivers, and I also view them a studs: Greg Jennings, Roddy White, Steve Smith, Anquan Boldin, Braylon Edwards, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall, Dwayne Bowe, Randy Moss, and Terrell Owens. These guys aren’t all perfect, like Edward for example, but they are either […]

Free Agency Tracking (3/4/09)

Here’s the latest activity. On Friday, I’ll incorporate all of these moves into a large player movement review (Part I), broken down by position and status (signed, re-signed, etc).

Jake Grove (C, signed by Miami from Oakland) – The former Raider signed a five-year, $29 million deal. Grove is one of the taller centers in football (6’4″) and has made an impact when he’s healthy. But that’s the biggest issue. In five seasons Grove has played in just 54 games, making 46 starts, and 2006 was the only season in which he started every game. Grove will presumably replace Samson Satele, who started every game in 2008, at the heart of Miami’s line. Given Grove’s injury history, it will be a nice cushion for the Dolphins to have an experienced backup, but they must like the potential upgrade Grove provides.

Fantasy Analysis – The Dolphins apparently don’t like Satele, who is a young guy, so while Grove has issues, adding him to the mix has to be considered good news for their line. If Grove can stay healthy and reach his potential, it could be great news. Worst case, he’ll improve their depth.

Jim Leonhard (S, signed by NY Jets from Baltimore) […]

  • 2015 SiriusXM PPR Hosts’ League Draft Review, and a Thought on Zero RB August 27, 2015
We recently received an email to the website asking us our personal feelings of the so-called “Zero RB” strategy that’s popped up in fantasy circles, but only seems to have exploded in recent years. As an avid fantasy player, I don’t subscribe to just one method of roster construction, but instead remain open to using […]
