I am working on an extensive Stock Watch report for tomorrow, but for those who are drafting today, I thought I would do a quick blog post covering the key movers and shakers from this past weekend. Honestly, there aren’t a lot of big moves to be made.
Here’s a quick look at some adjustments we’ll be making:
We’ll have to add some catches to Falcon RB Michael Turner’s total, since it’s clear he will catch more passes under Dirk Koetter. Of course, I might have to take a little from his rushing, since they are struggling in that area.
I’ll give Miami RB Daniel Thomas a few more yards and bump him up a bit, but he’s still pretty low.
Dolphin WR Davone Bess is pretty high now with a good catch total, but I’ll give him a few more grabs.
I’ll bump Patriot RB Steven Ridley up a few spots, since he likely cemented his role as the primary ball carrier. I won’t go nuts because he doesn’t have a huge margin for [...]
Once I get past the top-3 RBs on the board, how the rest of the RBs who are going to make it into my top-20 overall stack up is somewhat up in the air. There is a lot we need to see in the preseason, and it’s mostly due to injury issues. For example, if Darren McFadden shows no sign of trouble, he’ll move up. And if Ryan Mathews shows signs of trouble, he’ll move down.
But another way to differentiate players like Maurice Jones-Drew, Ryan Mathews, Trent Richardson, Darren McFadden, Chris Johnson, DeMarco Murray, and Matt Forte – who are hard to differentiate – is to look at their playoff strength of schedules. SOS can be a solid tie-breaker when you’re trying to decide between players of seemingly equal value, and playoff SOS is obviously especially important.
If you’re drafting toward the end of the first round, I think you have to take a RB with at least one of your first two picks, but deciding between these seven options isn’t easy, so looking at each of their schedules for the critical playoff weeks (13-16) might be the best way to pick the best one, preseason injury red flags or clean [...]
Today is the first day all 32 teams will be at training camp, so it is about time to officially kick off our preseason coverage.
Obviously, we have been hard at work adding new and updating existing articles, and we have been cranking out a lot of player and injury updates on the site for a little over a week.
We’re going to be rolling out a redesigned Subscriber Homepage hopefully this coming week, and I think it will make our index page a lot cleaner and easier to navigate, and since we’ve already updated a lot of our key articles within the last 1-3 days, we’ll probably start our usual preseason content schedule the week after this week, yet we’ll obviously be still updating and adding a bunch of articles.
It’s a little too soon to writeup a full-fledged “Stock Watch” article, which is a huge part of our preseason material, but there’s enough going on to merit an extensive blog post to cover some straggler items going on right now in the league. The first Stock Watch report will likely come late this week, once all teams have at least practiced in training camp 3-4 days.
The Cardinals were the first team [...]
Here are some quick thoughts on the two big news items from Friday. For one, I am disgusted with Kenny Britt. I have no qualms with someone partying, and in fact I tell my own son, who is in college, that it’s okay to let off some steam – but only when all the work you need to do is done. That’s when some partying in moderation can actually be a good thing (in my opinion).
At this point, you seriously have to wonder if Kenny Britt will go down as a serious waste of talent
But this Britt’s a real moron. I’ve been a huge Britt supporter based almost entirely on his physical skills, and I’ve been okay backing him despite his issues because I know he’s a good kid. I’ve never met him, but everyone I’ve talked to who have say the guy’s really, really likable. He’s not a bad dude. He’s just really, really dumb. I gotta think the Titans are seriously considering turning on the page on him after this recent incident. If there’s one thing that may help give him one more chance it’s that most of his previous transgressions did not come on Mike Munchak’s [...]
I have been buried with other things, namely our player profiles, and I also did manage to squeeze a family vacation in late last month, so I have neglected this blog (again). My contributions here will be sporadic, but I’m going to try to pop on here with random thoughts here and there.
Today’s post isn’t exactly a random because we’re gearing up for the preseason, and I wanted to post up an item that deals with some of the burning questions I have entering camps. I narrowed it down to ten questions, which wasn’t easy, but I’ve added some more at the end that I didn’t delve into in depth.
Here’s what I got for the top 10, though.
Will Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles go down as values or busts?
There’s no question fantasy owners need to temper expectations, especially for Peterson, whose injury occurred on 12/24, whereas Charles happened on 9/18, so Charles has three months on AP in terms of his recovery time. Neither will be outright busts if they play most of the season, but for them to go down as values, they’ll have to have almost no issues in training camp and will have to handle practicing in [...]
