Just missed it: Week Eleven

Here is another batch of just missed it type plays from Week 11. These are raw notes, so they were not edited for quality control.

  • Brandon Pettigrew lets one of his fingertips for a potential TD over the middle, continues to have suspect hands
  • Heath Miller dropped one in end zone going to ground
  • Bell tackled inside the 1-yard line on pass from Big Ben
  • Big Ben just overthrows David Paulson for a potential fifth passing TD down near goal line
  • Matt Ryan just misses Harry Douglas on pass in end zone late in blowout
  • Ryan Tannehill underthrows Mike Wallace for what should have been 51-yard TD
  • Brian Hartline fumbled at GL, but wiped out by penalty
  • TD from Philip Rivers to Antonio Gates TD negated by illegal forward pass
  • 1st-and-Goal from 3, Andre Brown runs down to half-yard line…Brandon Jacobs cleans up the TD
  • Colin Kaepernick to Jon Baldwin for 11-yard TD, Baldwin couldn’t hang on going to ground
  • Kaepernick picked off, should have been a pick 6, but fumbled out of end zone
  • Pierre Thomas tackled at the 1 on nice run, Jed Collins cleans it up
  • CK to Davis for 11-yard TD, Davis can’t hang on
  • Jimmy Graham catches passes at 1, but gets stood up
  • Drew Brees to Kenny Stills in the end-zone, incomplete
  • Patrick Peterson lined up at WR and Carson Palmer hit him with a little screen pass on 2nd and 12 at the JAX 40, Peterson broke it up field but stepped out of bounds after gaining 11 yards en route to what looked like an electrifying TD.
  • JAX KR Jordan Todman nearly took one the distance, mid first quarter, down the left sideline but was just nudged out of bounds.
  • Cards in two goal to go situations on first drive of second half, with throws to TE Rob Housler. One caught short of end zone another overthrown in end zone. ARI had to settle for a short Feely FG.
  • In mid-4th qt Maurice Jones-Drew had what would’ve been a 21-yard reception but it was called back due to holding.
  • BUF WR Chris Hogan had separation in the end zone and EJ Manuel’s throw was just out of his reach, along the sideline of the end zone on a 3rd & 7 from the NYJ 24 following a Bills INT of NYJ QB Geno Smith late in the first half.
  • Late in 4th qtr, NYJ RB Chris Ivory broke loose for a 69-yard gain, nearly a TD, as he got down to the BUF 2, but he just doesn’t have enough breakaway speed to take it all the way.
  • On 2nd and 16 at BUF 18, Simms threw high to David Nelson who was running open toward the front left corner of the end zone late in 4th
  • CLE 2nd & 6 at the 11, Jason Campbell threw a ball between two receivers, in the end zone on first drive.
  • CIN DL James Harrison, great individual effort on INT and returning it for a TD in the first quarter. Ran over a couple of Cleveland offensive players to plow his way into the end zone but illegal block in the back brought it back and led to Jermaine Gresham TD reception to start 2nd qtr. Would’ve given Cincy D/ST three TDs in the game.
  • CIN D nearly had another score, end of 3rd qtr, DE Gilberry sacks Campbell who lost the ball and it was picked up by Burfict who had an easy 2-3 yard score but it was ruled that ground caused fumble and Campbell was already down.
  • CIN RB Gio Bernard runs around left end towards pylon but pushed out at CLE 2 on a 2nd & 6 from the CLV 15 with about 12:30 left in game. Next play, Dalton tosses TD to TE Alex Smith.
  • 3 mins left in game, CLE WR Josh Gordon nearly had 2nd TD on 3rd and goal at CIN 4, diving for pass in end zone but ball was trapped according to refs. Then on next play, Campbell again for Gordon but was hit as he threw and ball bounced in front of Gordon who was open.
  • WAS QB Robert Griffin III poorly overthrew tight end Logan Paulsen on 1st and 10 at PHI 38 on Redskins’ opening series. Paulsen was wide open and could’ve scored.
  • On 2nd and 11 at the PHI 11 on Philly’s first possession of game, Nick Foles throws deep for Riley Cooper who had a step on WAS CB David Amerson, then Amerson threw his body at Cooper’s to try and prevent the completion. It worked as Cooper got tangled up and lost the flight of the ball, otherwise, that should’ve been an 89-yard TD. No penalty was called either.
  • First play of 2nd qtr., Eagles 1st and 10 at WAS 43, Foles throws a little screen to Brent Celek who blows straight down the numbers for the end zone, initially ruled a TD but reviewed and determined down at the one. One play later, LeSean McCoy gets a 1-yard TD. Good for McCoy owners and the Eagles, bad for Foles and Celek owners.
  • McCoy, made a great couple of moves on 2nd and 19 handoff stretch play at WAS 23 5:00 left in first half, and looked like he was headed for the end zone, but he crumbled at the 7-yard line and was grasping at his hamstring and you could see him saying, my hammy, my hammy. Probably would’ve scored a TD if he didn’t feel that tweak.
  • RGIII deep throw for Pierre Garcon on 1st and 10 at own 45 under 2:00 left in game, had Garcon behind defense but accuracy problems again cost him 6 points and a potential game-tying TD.
  • RGIII again, looking to end zone, to Robinson left corner of EZ on 1st and 10 at PHI 27 under a minute left in game but pass off the mark again.
  • Fumble by Marshawn Lynch on Seahawks 2nd play but recovered by same team…could’ve been ugly since their defense previously took the ball away from Min
  • Donnie Avery bad drop on second drive…could’ve put the Chiefs in business…instead Alex Smith is sacked and they have to punt
  • Ugly drop by Jamaal Charles on 5 yard line when he had room to run
  • Punt nearly blocked by Denver and then Trindon Holliday almost fumbled catch
  • Jamaal Charles had a big hole on the left side and could’ve gone all the way but stepped out of bounds as he was turning the corner
  • Demaryius Thomas had pass off his fingertips right before halftime…instead, the Broncos missed a FG
  • Newton almost intercepted by Talib on first drive, would’ve set up the Pats very nicely
  • Logan Ryan almost had INT on questionable throw by Cam early in the 4th after they tied the score—bounced off his chest/hands.
  • Brady almost picked off on final drive by 2 different Carolina defenders…would’ve made the ending much more definitive than how it actually ended.
