Just missed it: Week Five

Here is another week worth of near TDs or big plays from Week Five. As always, I do not claim to catch every single near score or play, but I am usually getting at least 90% of them. I think it’s worth knowing if you guys at least had a chance to score or make a big play if he’s coming up small on the stat sheet.

And also as usual, these are more raw notes as opposed to crafted text that has been massaged to make it flow like Hemmingway.

  • Pass to WR Larry Fitzgerald running toward the endzone. It could have been a TD, but incomplete.
  • Pass to WR Early Doucet in the endzone, but it was incomplete. Doucet later had another ball thrown to him in the endzone at the end of the game, but incomplete again.
  • Deep shot to Jordy Nelson early in the game, but it too far or else it could have possibly been a 68-yard TD (not a lock). Nelson later had a pass thrown to him in the endzone that was broken up.
  • WR Torrey Smith had a 25-yard catch-and-run on a screen pass called back.
  • WR Anquan Boldin had a pass thrown to him 2-3 yards in front of the goal, but it was incomplete.
  • Pass to WR Tandon Doss in the endzone, but incomplete.
  • Pass to Armon Binns in the endzone, but it was too high.
  • WR Andrew Hawkins had his mitts on a ball in the endzone, but it was broken up nicely by Miami.
  • Pass to WR Mike Wallace in the endzone on broken play, but it was no good.
  • Pass to TE Jermichael Finley threaded in the endzone, but it was a great defensive play, yet he could have had it. He had another pass thrown to him in the endzone that was broken up.
  • WR Josh Gordon dropped a slant pass thrown behind him. It may have gone for a TD after his first score and before his second score.
  • Pass lobbed in the endzone for WR Reuben Randle, but it was incomplete.
  • Pass to Reggie Wayne in the endzone, but it was incomplete.
  • WR Julio Jones just missed a TD on longer pass in the endzone, as there were two Redskins there to break it up. Julio also dropped a 40-yard bomb right in front of the endzone and he later had a 45-yard pass thrown to him down the field broken up.
  • TE Tony Gonzalez just missed a TD on catch down the middle, but his elbow was down just inside the 1. He scored on the next play, anyway.
  • WR Antonio Brown just missed a longer TD, he should have had it, but he could not complete the catch.
  • WR Jericho Cotchery had a TD on a dump-off pass, but he was tripped up by his own feet.
  • QB Ben Roethlisberger had TE Heath Miller for potential TD, but he overshot it, yet far from a lock he would have scored on the play. But it was close.
  • WR Dwayne Bowe had a TD catch taken off the board, as he was called for offensive PI. Bowe also had a pass in the endzone, but it was incomplete and defensive PI called on the play.
  • Pass to TE Ben Watson in the endzone, but it was picked off.
  • Pass to WR Donnie Avery in the endzone, but it was incomplete. QB Andrew Luck also had Avery wide open for a 50-yard TD running toward the endzone Sunday, but it was just a hair too long.
  • Pass to TE Kellen Davis in the endzone, but no go.
  • WR Alshon Jeffery had a catch in the endzone, didn’t get both feet down, he did later score in the game.
  • Bill return man Leodis McKelvin with a TD return called back.
  • Pass to WR Eric Decker in the endzone, almost made a great catch, but PI on the defense. He also had a pass to him late in the endzone, but it was way too high.
  • Pass to WR Brandon Marshall in the endzone, but it was broken up. He later scored.
  • Pass to WR Wes Welker right in front of the endzone after his first TD of the season earlier in the game.
  • RB Stevan Ridley just missed a TD by an inch on 2nd and goal play.
  • Pass to WR Devin Aromashodu Aroma in the endzone, no good.
  • Eagle QB Michael Vick fumbled on a QB draw by the goal line, as you likely saw.
  • Pass to WR Eddie Royal in the endzone, but it was too short.

  • Pass to WR Chaz Schilens in the endzone, but no go.
  • WR Jeremy Maclin almost hauled in a 40-yard catch, and there was pass. interference on the defense was called. Maclin on the next play just missed a TD on a catch in the red zone, but he looked good on the catch.

    John,

I hope me being able to leave a comment here is a sign that you will field our questions like in previous years. I know your busy, but trying to see if you answer a player question on twitter, just sucks. Well, any way I hope your back.
