Just missed it: Week Seven

Here is what I saw from Week Seven in terms of near TDs, big plays, and the like. As usual, I believe this is about 90% of what happened last week and the writing is presented more so in raw note form.

Pass to Seahawk WR Braylon Edwards in the endzone, but it was in-and-out out his hands.
49er WR Kyle Williams was open for a longer TD, but QB Alex Smith overshot him.
Pass down the field to Seahawk RB Robert Turbin that could have been a TD, but he dropped it.
49er QB Alex Smith had Randy Moss open in the end zone but didn’t see him and didn’t throw it to him.
Viking WR Percy Harvin had 106-yard return negated by a penalty.
The turf monster tripped up Ram WR Austin Pettis, who would’ve been wide open for pass from Bradford for a possible TD.
Redskin WR Josh Morgan had a TD catch taken off the board.
Pass to Cowboy WR Miles Austin in the endzone, but it was incomplete. He also had a catch on 3rd and goal, but was down at the 2.
Pass to Redskin TE Niles Paul in the endzone, incomplete.
Brown WR Josh Gordon almost scored on a nice catch, but was [...]

Just missed it: Week Six

Here is what I have from Week Six in terms of near TDs, big plays, etc. As usual, I believe I got about 90% of what happened last week, and these are raw notes not exactly aimed at coming across like fine literature.

WR Kendall Wright missed out on a TD on that pass in the endzone, he should have had it.
WR Mike Wallace dropped a pass in the endzone that could have been a TD, although he might not have gotten both feet in.
Pass in the endzone to WR Antonio Brown, it was incomplete, but defensive PI called.
Pass to TE Heath Miller in the endzone, but it was broken up
Pass to WR Kenny Britt in front of the endzone, but no good. He had another fade right after in the endzone, but he dropped it. He eventually did score.
Pass in the neighborhood of WR Austin Pettis in the endzone, but it was incomplete
Pass in TE Tony Scheffler’s neighborhood in the endzone, incomplete
QB Carson Palmer had TE Brandon Myers for a short TD, but he didn’t catch it in the endzone
QB Joe Flacco missed Ray Rice for an easy TD pass in the endzone, but throw was off and Rice scored [...]

Just missed it: Week Five

Here is another week worth of near TDs or big plays from Week Five. As always, I do not claim to catch every single near score or play, but I am usually getting at least 90% of them. I think it’s worth knowing if you guys at least had a chance to score or make a big play if he’s coming up small on the stat sheet.

And also as usual, these are more raw notes as opposed to crafted text that has been massaged to make it flow like Hemmingway.

Pass to WR Larry Fitzgerald running toward the endzone. It could have been a TD, but incomplete.
Pass to WR Early Doucet in the endzone, but it was incomplete. Doucet later had another ball thrown to him in the endzone at the end of the game, but incomplete again.
Deep shot to Jordy Nelson early in the game, but it too far or else it could have possibly been a 68-yard TD (not a lock). Nelson later had a pass thrown to him in the endzone that was broken up.
WR Torrey Smith had a 25-yard catch-and-run on a screen pass called back.
WR Anquan Boldin had a pass thrown to him 2-3 yards in [...]

Just missed it: Week Four

Here are some rough notes from Week Four in terms of what I saw with the missed TD opportunities. I would venture to say I got 90% of them, so I did not get them all, and there are mainly rough notes.

Pass to WR Anquan Boldin in the endzone, but it was picked.
Brown WR Greg Little dropped a TD pass, but it would have been a tough catch.
WR Jordon Norwood had a pass in the endzone, incomplete.
WR Julio Jones Just had a ball thrown to him in the endzone, broken up.
WR Roddy White dropped a pass in the endzone that could have been a TD for sure. He later had a pass down the field that was incomplete, but it could have been a score.
WR Dwayne Bowe had a 36-yard catch called back.
WR Calvin Johnson failed to complete a catch in the endzone for TD; he had the ball but couldn’t hang on.
TE Brandon Pettigrew dropped a sure TD in the endzone.
Pass to WR Danny Amendola in front of the endzone, but it was a no go.
Steven Jackson had a TD run taken off the board in the first half when he was running well.
RB C.J. Spiller of all people [...]

  • Position Battle Playing Time for First Full Week of Preseason Action August 13, 2014
We continue to update the position battles around the league, but in this blog, I thought looking at preseason playing time would be interesting. The depth chart doesn’t always tell the whole story and it’s certainly worth noting when players get in the game and who they get to play with, whether it’s with the first-team offense or the backups. If you’re loo […]

  • Poll Result Analysis: RB Sleeper Candidate Targets August 12, 2014
Over the last week, we posted a poll asking you which RB sleeper candidate was at the top of your targets list. The results varied throughout the week and Falcon rookie RB Devonta Freeman led most of the way, but things certainly changed after a full week of preseason games:                           As you can see, the final results put 49er rookie RB Carlo […]
