Expert Mock Draft Today

I’m doing an expert mock draft today for one of the Fanball magazines, available on newsstands this summer. This is a 12-teamer and it’s NOT a PPR league. It’s also a league that gives 6 points per TD pass. It’s a pretty basic setup overall:

Draft: 12 teams, Snake draft, 90 seconds per pick

16 rounds (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 FLEX, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF, 7 bench)

Scoring: Rush/Rec TD= 6 pts., Pass TD=4 pts., 10 yds rushing/rec.= 1 pt., 25 yds. passing= 1 pt., FG= 3 pts., PAT= 1 pt.

Defense: TD= 6 pts., Sack, INT or FF= 1 pt.

I’ll be posting my picks as I make them, starting at 3pm ET.

1st pick, 7th overall – All the good young RBs were gone, so it was between Jackson and LT, I took LaDainian Tomlinson.

2nd pick – Between Barber and Wayne, and I felt the need to secure a stud WR, so I took Reggie Wayne.

4:00: Sorry, something came up during the draft, so I’ll post all my picks. It’s only a mock, so I didn’t pay a lot of attention to it given what came up here in the office.

5:09: Ok, I’m back and the draft is over. [...]

Each year, we publish an article about Overvalues & Players to Avoid, but make a point to say that at the right value, anyone is worth drafting. While I agree with that philosophy for the most part, there is always a group of players I want nothing to do with due to injury history, continuing off-the-field issues, too much competition at the position, or […]

This off-season, we spent some time watching each and every NFL team again, trying to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses with players we might have missed in the rush of the regular season. The intention was to feel more confident in our analysis for what turned out to be our biggest player profiles ever.We spent more time on some teams than on others, and ev […]
