Don’t Hex Rex just yet

I have some thoughts on Rex Grossman, since it seems some think I am shrinking in his chair a la Fred Flinstone after Grossman’s game on Monday night.

I am not.

First of all, I think the play of Grossman, Jay Cutler, and Vince Young this past weekend were all good examples of one thing I have said over and over again this year: I think it’s very important to get one of the top QBs in 2007. These three young players definitely have potential, but maybe we can’t rely on him just yet. There are many young QBs starting this year – that’s why I think it’s important to roll with one of the top guys.

As for Grossman, keep in mind that at least half of my affinity for him is specifically tied to his value in drafts. If he does crap the bed, I sure hope I don’t see any e-mails from people complaining how they wasted a 12th round, or even a 10th round draft pick on Grossman because that would be pretty ridiculous.

On Grossman’s play, I thought he had some good moments throwing the ball, and that’s the thing that I focus on when [...]

The Experts Drafting Late

We finished up the FantasyGuru.com Magazine draft last night, the final six rounds. Each year we draft 14 rounds for the magazine and make everyone draft a starting lineup then (1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT). Then in August we finish up, so we have a better idea of who to draft. The luck of the draw here is having one of th early picks in the second draft, since there are usually some players who are really standing out as good picks still available. I did not have one of those early picks, but I still made out pretty well. Here’s a recap:

15.01 169. Thomas Peterson, Adrian CHI RB
15.02 170. KFFL Martin, David MIA TE
15.03 171. Fanball Faulk, Kevin NEP RB
15.04 172. CBS Williamson, Troy MIN WR
15.05 173. FootballDiehards.com Furrey, Mike DET WR
15.06 174. Fantasy Index Watson, Kenny CIN RB
15.07 175. The Huddle Bennett, Michael KCC RB Mon
15.08 176. Footballinjuries.com Daniels, Owen HOU TE
15.09 177. Yahoo! Sports Snelling, Jason ATL RB
15.10 178. FantasyGuru.com Wade, Bobby MIN WR  – Happy to get him for depth in a PPR league. He could be worth starting as a 4th receiver.
15.11 179. Fantasy Sports Magazine [...]

  • The Prince Connection: Rodgers and Nelson July 7, 2014
If you follow along over at my Twitter account @FG_Dolan (shameless plug), you’ve probably noticed my undying love for Jordy Nelson, and the fact that I’d happily welcome him onto any of my fantasy teams this year. First of all, he’s madly productive as is: he hauled in 85/1314/8 last year and averaged 16.5 FPG in a PPR league. That was good enough to rank h […]

  • 12-Team PPR Mock Auction Review, Strategy, and Lessons Learned June 5, 2014
On somewhat of a whim, I decided to do some mocking on Wednesday night, but instead of trying to compare ADP numbers and working out the best spots to pick from, my idea was to run an auction. We ended up getting a 12-team PPR mock auction with a $200 cap done in a few hours, although with the informal atmosphere, a handful of teams ended up going on autodra […]
