Garcia’s not that good
The free agent picking at QB are so slim this year that veteran Jeff Garcia, who is 37, is officially the hottest commodity at his position. If you watched Garcia on TV this year, you were probably impressed, and he did play well. But over the last few weeks of the season, Garcia wasn’t playing all that well, and that he was leaving a lot of plays on the field.
Not that I could tell all that much watching the games. Greg Cosell, the Senior Producer of the Matchup show on ESPN, told me this a few times, after studying Garcia on the coach’s tape with former QB Ron Jaworski. As they say, the eye in the sky don’t lie.
Garcia is a the ultimate system QB, and he was in the ultimate system with the Eagles this past year, so a team like the Bears would be foolish to throw a lot of money his way. Let’s not forget this guy was running around like a chicken with his head cut off the last 2-3 years before going to Philly in 2006. He looked extremely frenetic, uncomfortable, and done.
Any talk that he should start for the Eagles over Donovan McNabb is [...]
