Fantasy Guru Daily: 6/15/11

You know we have a good day at the Fantasy Guru Daily when there is no more Kenny Britt news to update. Way to go, Kenny. There is also a labor news update, and some headlines from an old friend.

Labor talks continue in Maryland… The NFL and NFLPA continued their series of confidential meetings, this time in an undisclosed Maryland suburb outside of Washington, DC. And with the meetings, there was more signs of real, tangible progress in the talks, leading to hope that a new CBA could be agreed upon, if not ratified, within the next couple weeks. Obviously, the talks have progressed to a point where we’re more positive about a possible resolution than we have been at any point throughout this three-month lockout, but it appears as if people close to the discussions want fans and reporters to tone down the excitement. Remember, most of those who have knowledge of the proceedings have placed on or around July 4 as a reasonable expectation for a new deal, and that means we still have three to four weeks of discussions that could break down. In other words, while Tuesday was the “yay! Football” day, it appears as if [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 6/14/11

We continue to receive positive signs about the lockout, while a certain Titan receiver continues to make headlines for the wrong reasons. Roger Goodell has not been able to suspend anyone recently, so could we see the headline “Lockout ends; Britt suspended” in the near future?

Kenny, c'mon… this is turrible

The Kenny Britt Daily … June is not shaping up to be a good month for embattled Titan WR Kenny Britt. After a breakout 2010 season that was shortened by a hamstring injury, he’s had a tumultuous off-season full of brushes with the law. Last week, he was arrested and charged with two counts of resisting arrest, and that came just a day after he pleaded guilty to careless driving charges. Now, police in Tennessee say Britt is wanted with two outstanding warrants, as he’s accused of making inaccurate statements on his driver’s license application. According to The Tennessean, Britt has now had at least seven brushes with police since he was drafted by the Titans in 2009. Seriously. We don’t deal much with character issues here, but Britt is starting to erase all memories of his emergence as a go-to receiver because there is new off-the-field news revealed almost [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 6/10/11

You know, there comes a point during a lengthy lockout when we hope there is now news from the player front, because when there is, it is typically bad. And when we are posting about the same guy in two of our last three blogs, well… yeah.

Britt arrested. Again… According to several reports, Titan WR Kenny Britt was expected in Nashville this week to begin working out with his teammates. Instead, he’s gotten himself in trouble with the law. Britt was arrested on Wednesday, charged with two counts of resisting arrest, just one day after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor offense for eluding an officer stemming from an April incident. In this business, we don’t like to get too much into a player’s personal life, because when push comes to shove talent will ultimately win out. But Britt – who didn’t have a criminal record when 2011 began – now has had two incidents in two months, and you can be certain that commissioner Roger Goodell is keeping tabs. Goodell has explicitly stated that malfeasant behavior during the lockout will be punished once a deal is reached. Britt already had a tough time with injuries last year, and he’ll be [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 6/8/11

They continue to talk, this time in New York, and we continue to wait patiently for good news. In an otherwise slow news day, we look at a high-profile college QB, who could enter the supplemental draft after deciding to skip his senior season.

While in New York, maybe the two sides could take a hansom cab ride.

“Very serious talks” continue … at what is reportedly an undisclosed location in New York. Both the players and league have made a point to keep the details of these meetings confidential, but reports say that lawyers are once again being kept out of the room while Judge Arthur Boylan along with Commissioner Roger Goodell, owners, and players try to hammer out a deal. The less we hear about these talks, the better, as both sides show commitment to getting something done in the next month or so before the typical NFL off-season has to be dramatically shifted and/or cancelled. To get a great idea of where this could be going (and it sounds positive), check out Albert Breer’s latest story.

Terrelle Pryor to skip senior season … at Ohio State, at least when it comes to football. The former Buckeye QB hasn’t decided [...]
