Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/31/11

We hope you all had a great holiday weekend, but we are ready to get back at it here at the Fantasy Guru Global Headquarters in what has become an increasingly warm Southern New Jersey. Today we’ll update you on an old QB riding into the sunset (no not him), the rehab of some important receivers, and a couple of young QBs holding workouts.

Country music star? Stetson Man? Guy who stares off into the distance? Just a few options for Kerry Collins' post-NFL life.

Collins may not return to Titans … as many, including us, expected he would. Titan OG Jake Scott was on Sirius/XM NFL Radio last week and said he didn’t think Collins would return to “be a nursemaid to a young kid” referring to rookie QB and major developmental project Jake Locker. Scott said money is not an issue for Collins, whom he believes could “ride off into the sunset.” With Vince Young not returning, the Titans are very thin at the QB position and don’t have anyone on the roster with significant playing experience. Rusty Smith and Brett Ratliff are the team’s top options right now, so if Collins doesn’t return, they’ll have to find a [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 3/2/11

The labor talks are obviously the big story in the NFL with the CBA expiration date approaching rapidly. With the chance of a lockout looming, teams are making some last-minute roster moves, whether it be signings, releases, or placing RFA tenders (which may mean nothing) on certain players.

The NFLPA gets a favorable ruling … from U.S. District Judge David Doty, who declared that the NFL was in violation of the CBA by locking up $4 billion in television revenue to help survive a possible lockout. Despite the NFL downplaying the ruling by saying it was expected and that the teams were prepared for the possibility, there’s no doubt that this is a huge victory for the NFLPA since we are talking about billions of dollars. A hearing will be held to determine what happens to the money and whether or not the players will receive damages as a result of the violation by the NFL. After meeting for six hours on Tuesday, the two sides continue mediation talks on Wednesday with the entire NFL labor committee and the NFLPA executive committee present, including NFLPA president Kevin Mawae. With an owners meeting also scheduled on Wednesday just 25 miles away from [...]

Here are the top stories I will be following in Week Nine of the NFL. Jacksonville (1-7) at Cincinnati (4-2) Can Denard Robinson continue to produce behind a bad OL?
