Fantasy Guru Daily: 3/10/11

Welcome to the CBA Daily! While not a lot of positive news have come from talks taking place this week, we have been careful not to overreact knowing that the situation looked grim just one week ago before the sides agreed to two extensions.

NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith is still looking for more financial information from the league.

Day 14 of mediation is in the books … and while the two sides continue to squabble over the amount of financial data released by the league, we did get some interesting tidbits from NFLPA executive DeMaurice Smith. He noted that the league lowered the amount of addition revenues taken off the top from $1 billion to $800 million, although he said that number is still too high because of the lack of financial information needed to agree to that number. As part of the last CBA, the NFL received $1 billion off the top, so they’re now looking for $1.8 billion in their latest proposal. While the idea of an 18-game season was never something the NFLPA seemed very interested in, it has been a topic that’s remained part of the negotiations although Smith revealed that the league never formally proposed [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 2/4/11

We have reached Super Bowl Friday, meaning we are only two days away from what should be a thrilling Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that also means we are just three days away from a long, long off-season. With that, there is plenty of news to get to today, with non-Super Bowl teams still making headlines.

Sanchez struggled at times recently with a right shoulder injury, but he won't need surgery.

No surgery for Sanchez … Jet QB Mark Sanchez told reporters at the Super Bowl that he does not need surgery on his injured right throwing shoulder. That means he avoids a second straight off-season surgery after he had arthroscopic knee surgery last year. Sanchez said he no longer has swelling and bruising, and after examining results of MRIs, several doctors agreed that surgery is unnecessary. Sanchez originally injured his shoulder in Week Fifteen but played through it and although he looked shaky at times – including several overthrown passes at Indianapolis – he finished strong in the second half at Pittsburgh.

Driver sidelined on Thursday … There’s no need to panic, but Packer WR Donald Driver was sidelined for most of Thursday’s practice. Driver took part in only the early portion of [...]

  • 9/5 – 9/6 projections tweaks September 5, 2015
The final cuts are in, but we will most likely continue to have some news trickling out in the NFL over the next 1-2 days regarding roster spots, traded, etc. We’re not going to do our final update on our PDFs and Excel files until Sunday evening at the earliest, but I will but updating the projections on the site all weekend. If you have a draft and are loo […]

  • The latest projections August 30, 2015
Every year on this very day I am faced with the dilemma of having rankings that, despite being less than 2 days old, feel a little stale because of all the action in the critical third preseason game. The problem is it takes forever to update projections, comments, create the PDFs, create the excel files, and update all the apps. It cannot be done over the w […]

  • 8/17 USA Today mock draft August 19, 2015
I did an expert mock draft for USA Today and their special fantasy preview publication that will hit newsstands next week. I admittedly didn’t focus on the just the draft (I was working on several things at the time) and I simply queued up a bunch of players I liked. It wasn’t efficient at all, and I only like the squad (not love), but for what it’s worth th […]
