Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/27/11

Hey! We have a holiday weekend edition of the Guru Daily here, and the big news surrounds a guy who apparently does not want to take a holiday. We think you already might have a guess about who it is…

Favre is throwing again… Should this be a surprise to anyone? Remember, we delivered this exclusive conversation between Brett Favre and rookie Cam Newton just a few weeks ago, and now the reports have already started that Favre is throwing. Well, OK, it is baseballs. But still, nothing like some Favre news to spice up a Friday morning! Right? Right?

This is not Brett Favre, but this is what he would look like as a Milwaukee Brewer relief pitcher.

Kolb working out with Eagles… Perhaps there’s been no player more adversely affected by the lockout than Eagle QB Kevin Kolb, who is simply assumed to be traded as soon as a deal is struck or the lockout is lifted. In a normal offseason, Kolb might have found a new home nearly three months ago, but he’s still wallowing in limbo right now, so he has no choice but to get into shape throwing to the likes of Jeremy Maclin and [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/26/11

Welcome to another lockout-free edition of the Fantasy Guru Daily, where we forget about the agonizing labor dispute and instead focus on what we all want to focus on: football.

Surgery for Ward… At least the injury didn’t happen on “Dancing with the Stars.” We here at the Fantasy Guru Daily have done our best to avoid discussing the appearance of Steeler WR Hines Ward on the hit ABC show, and now that it’s over and he apparently won, we can focus on his football. Well, he will undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his left thumb, and he’s apparently been dealing with the injury since the end of the 2010 season. It was a disappointing year for Ward, as he saw his involvement in the offense take a big hit, and he didn’t have much value for fantasy in most weeks. He had four 100-yard games but was ineffective in many other games in a passing offense that lacked rhythm all season. Instead, the focus was on the running game and taking shots with Mike Wallace downfield. After putting up 95/1167/6 in 2009, Ward’s numbers plummeted to 59/755/5 with an average of 6.6 FPG. As for the injury, he [...]

  • 12-team NFFC draft results (from 8/30) August 31, 2014
Here are the results of the 12-team PPR 3rd round reversal NFFC 20-round draft I participated in last night in New York City. I was pretty pleased with the draft and felt I was generally ahead of the curve. While I did have to pay a premium for some players early, I did get solid value for others later. In a high-stakes draft, you have to be very proactive a […]

  • 8/17 projection update August 17, 2014
Just a quick note today for those drafting (Sunday, August 17, 2014) that I have updated projections taking into account the Friday and Saturday games. The problem with doing this is our PDF cheat sheets and excel files are now behind what the projections and the custom cheat sheet have. When we do our main projection updates early and late in the week, it’s […]
