Fantasy Guru Daily: 7/26/11

We survived the 2011 NFL lockout.

After more than four months of daily updates on the labor problem in the NFL, we are finally finished. This is the last lockout-related post here in the Guru Daily, and we couldn’t be happier. No more worrying. No more stakeouts for Albert Breer. No more labor talk for 10 years. Just football.

We're happy too, Jerry.

But now that the lockout is over, it’s time to get down to business. The next few weeks are going to be some of the most hectic we’ve ever seen, as free agency has been delayed several months and will now take place in a short span lasting only a few days. Just a few days ago, everyone was worrying about how the players would respond to the owners’ celebratory press conference. Now, training camp opens tomorrow. Things change quickly, and we’ll continue working hard to make sure we have everything covered. For now, let’s take a quick look at the calendar:

Tuesday, 10 a.m.: Sign rookies and UDFAs; trades can begin to be made; Free agent negotiations can begin with no signing
Wednesday: Training camp [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/25/11

We will be focusing on actual football stories until there is some legitimate news to talk about when it comes to the labor situation. Today we have injury updates on some major fantasy players and interesting news regarding two young QBs.

Peyton has neck surgery … and will be out six to eight weeks, according to Colts owner Jim Irsay. The procedure, Manning’s second on his neck since February of last year, was to remove park of a bulging disk. Manning had the surgery on Monday and was already home recovering on Tuesday. According to Manning, the discomfort started just recently and that this procedure was not related to the previous one. Manning anticipates a quick recovery, noting he began working out within two weeks of his first procedure last year. Irsay reiterated his hope to sign Manning to a long-term deal as soon as possible with the latest surgery having no effect on any possible contract. However, he did say Manning might have his throws limited in training camp with the team’s backups getting more work.

Did Peyton catch the injury bug from Tiger? We sure hope not.

Antonio Gates is healthy … according to Charger HC [...]

Here are the results of the 12-team PPR 3rd round reversal NFFC 20-round draft I participated in last night in New York City. I was pretty pleased with the draft and felt I was generally ahead of the curve. While I did have to pay a premium for some players early, I did get solid value for others later. In a high-stakes draft, you have to be very proactive a […]

  • 8/17 projection update August 17, 2014
Just a quick note today for those drafting (Sunday, August 17, 2014) that I have updated projections taking into account the Friday and Saturday games. The problem with doing this is our PDF cheat sheets and excel files are now behind what the projections and the custom cheat sheet have. When we do our main projection updates early and late in the week, it’s […]
