They’re Unnecessary

Each year, we publish an article about Overvalues & Players to Avoid, but make a point to say that at the right value, anyone is worth drafting. While I agree with that philosophy for the most part, there is always a group of players I want nothing to do with due to injury history, continuing off-the-field issues, too much competition at the position, or a coach who doesn’t care about your fantasy team (looking at you, Mike Shanahan). With training camp underway and mock drafts happening much more often, I figured I’d share my 2012 list with you. You’ll probably have some disagreements, which is understandable since some of these are based on gut feeling. I asked some of you on Twitter about players on your list and will include them below.

There's too much going against Ahmad Bradshaw to draft him with confidence this year.

Ahmad Bradshaw – Bradshaw has been one of my favorite players to watch since making a name for himself as part of the Earth, Wind, and Fire backfield for the 2007 Giants. After Derrick Ward departed, Bradshaw got a much-deserved increased role in the offense. I’ve given him plenty of credit for being a [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/13/11

Another Friday has come without a peep from the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, but as we wait in this endless lockout, Judge Doty is back in the news, while a Saint WR is recovering from significant knee surgery.

Colston underwent microfracture surgery … Not only did Saint WR Marques Colston have wrist surgery this off-season, but he’s also fighting back from microfracture surgery that repaired cartilage around his right knee. It’s the second time he’s had microfracture surgery, as he had a similar operation performed on his left knee in 2009. The good news is Colston is working out with teammates at Tulane University and said he’s doing everything and just needs to get his conditioning back. Despite the injuries, Colston has missed only one game in the last two seasons, and he’s hit 1000 yards four times, with the one exception being a 2008 season in which he missed five games. Colston had minor arthroscopic surgery after Week Sixteen and had the more significant surgery after the playoffs. Colston joins Robert Meachem as Saint WRs recovering from surgery, as Meachem underwent ankle surgery. Both are working out now with players such as WR Devery Henderson and rookie RB Mark [...]

  • 12-team PPR IDP Mock Draft results June 4, 2015
I have been buried since the NFL draft doing our post-draft work, 2015 projections, and more, so I didn’t get a chance to post a draft I participated in for most of May (slow draft). It’s for Athlon Sports’ fantasy magazine, so I can’t publish the entire draft. But here’s my team. This league stars 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 […]

  • First draft of the 2015 season April 14, 2015
Although it is disgustingly early for a 2015 fantasy football draft for most, we are closing in on the time of the year when a draft is at least viable. Free agency is basically over, so all we have to wait for now is the draft. I’ve also been intrigued with what our friends at myfantasyleague.com have been doing with their MFL10s. It’s a great idea for the […]

  • Week 17 storylines December 26, 2014
Here are the top stories I’m following for Week 17 Cleveland (7-8) at Baltimore (9-6) Brown QB situation. Brian Hoyer (right shoulder/biceps) did not practice Friday. Rookie Connor Shaw is set to start for them at Baltimore. Do they give Terrance West any snaps to evaluate him? He played 0 snaps last week. Does Josh Gordon do anything to leave us something t […]
