Fantasy Guru Daily: 6/10/11

You know, there comes a point during a lengthy lockout when we hope there is now news from the player front, because when there is, it is typically bad. And when we are posting about the same guy in two of our last three blogs, well… yeah.

Britt arrested. Again… According to several reports, Titan WR Kenny Britt was expected in Nashville this week to begin working out with his teammates. Instead, he’s gotten himself in trouble with the law. Britt was arrested on Wednesday, charged with two counts of resisting arrest, just one day after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor offense for eluding an officer stemming from an April incident. In this business, we don’t like to get too much into a player’s personal life, because when push comes to shove talent will ultimately win out. But Britt – who didn’t have a criminal record when 2011 began – now has had two incidents in two months, and you can be certain that commissioner Roger Goodell is keeping tabs. Goodell has explicitly stated that malfeasant behavior during the lockout will be punished once a deal is reached. Britt already had a tough time with injuries last year, and he’ll be [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 3/31/11

Baseball fans are lucky enough to see their favorite teams and players back on the field today, but those of us in the football world continue to read court briefs as we wait for April 6th. In the meantime, pro days continue and draft boards are being accordingly.

Jake Locker's showed improved accuracy at the University of Washington pro day, but his Sweet Chin Music still needs some work.

Locker nearly perfect … during his pro day at the University of Washington. The former Husky starting QB completed 38 of 40 passes, including 35 in a row, showing improvement in his accuracy, an issue that’s been heavily scrutinized after he completed just over 55% of his passes as a senior. The general consensus is that Locker has shown improvement in each of his public outings from the Senior Bowl to the combine to yesterday’s pro day. Locker has worked with former NFL QB Ken O’Brien, who has helped the prospect improve his footwork and release. In analyzing his performance, Locker felt he was “more consistent” and felt the ball came off his hand well. While the reviews were mostly positive, Locker’s draft status continues to hover between a late 1st [...]

  • Week 15 storylines December 13, 2014
Here are the top stories I’ll be following in Week 15 with some insight on some of them. Pittsburgh (8-5) at Atlanta (5-8) Will Julio Jones play? It’s obviously a huge key for Matt Ryan’s ability to hang with the Steelers in a high-scoring game. Without Jones, they have no explosiveness in the passing game and Ryan will have to dink-and-dunk to Roddy White a […]

  • Week 14 storylines December 6, 2014
Here are all the storylines that I will be following in Week 14 along with some commentary and information on the matchups. Pittsburgh (7-5) at Cincinnati (8-3-1) Can Ben Roethlisberger play better against a solid secondary that has limited him to only 16.0 points a game against them in his last four games? Is Heath Miller someone we can actually trust in th […]

  • 30 slam-dunk fantasy starters for the playoffs December 2, 2014
Here is a list of 30 no-brainer starters for the fantasy playoffs. I would imagine that 95% of fantasy players (or more) should start these players the next 2-3 weeks (if healthy) no matter what. I did leave several high-end options off the list (like the Bear WRs) due to some recent issues and lack of production. Note: These are listed by position, and in n […]
