Game Notes: Cowboys, Broncos, Lions, Packers

This off-season, we spent some time watching each and every NFL team again, trying to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses with players we might have missed in the rush of the regular season. The intention was to feel more confident in our analysis for what turned out to be our biggest player profiles ever.We spent more time on some teams than on others, and even the teams we spent the most time on we were only able to watch a handful of games. But we thought it might be cool to publish a series of blogs detailing what we saw from the teams we watched with our raw notes.

These notes were never intended for publication, so forgive grammatical errors or the occasional poor language. Nor were they intended to be comprehensive, or definitive takes on fringe players (especially WRs, who are difficult to watch on TV angles). We simply thought it’d be a neat way to show a little extra insight into some of the players that we might not have felt like we had a great grip on this season.

Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/5/11

Stay Watch: 2011 continues as we wait to hear if the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis grants the NFL a stay, which would extend the lockout at least another month through the expedited hearing on June 3. For now, we bring you actual football news.

Bryant shows up … After Jerry Jones and Dez Bryant were unable to meet last Friday about Bryant’s recent off-the-field troubles, but Bryant was finally with his teammates Wednesday as the Cowboys conducted workouts. QB Tony Romo said Bryantmoved around well, which, if true, is a good sign for someone who had surgery to repair a fractured fibula five months ago. Bryant missed the first day of informal player-led workouts because of a family issue but said he plans to be there for the rest. Bryant is a big key to the Cowboy offense this season, as if he stays healthy and focused, he has the talent to become a big-time receiver and certainly showed flashes of that last year. Roy Williams clearly isn’t the player he once was, and there’s plenty of room for Bryant to emerge as a playmaker on the outside opposite Miles Austin.

More often than not, the answers to each upcoming season’s burning questions wind up being important keys to the success of a fantasy draft, so they’re worth exploring in depth. 2014 seems to be a little more straightforward than 2013, but there are still some critical situations that need to be placed under the microscope. Here’s my top-10. Is it time to pa […]

As I hope most subscribers fully comprehend, I am on a never-ending mission to improve FantasyGuru.com as a service. There is no end to this pursuit; it’s a constantly evolving endeavor that for me will only conclude when I’m no longer with the site, which, thanks in large part to the surprise arrival of twins in 2006 for my wife and me, won’t be happening a […]
