2012 NFL Draft Team Needs: AFC West

The 2012 NFL Draft is nearly upon us, and this edition is much clearer than last year, at least in terms of team needs, because free agency has already taken place. Here on the staff blog, I’m going to break down each team’s top needs and fantasy outlook for the draft, going division by division. Today we head to the AFC West, and, if you missed them, check out the AFC East, AFC North, and AFC South. Got a player you want your team to target? Let me know in the comments.

Also, be sure to take a look at our massive 2012 Pre-Draft Rookie Report, which takes an in-depth look at all the top fantasy prospects.

Denver Broncos

Picks: 25, 57, 87, 108, 120, 137, 188

Top Needs:

1. Defensive Tackle – The Broncos’ defensive tackle position is a bit of a mess right now. Brodrick Bunkley signed with the Saints, while Ryan McBean will miss the first six games of the season because of a suspension. Plus, Marcus Thomas remains a free agent. For now, that leaves Ty Warren and Kevin Vickerson in the middle of the Broncos’ 4-3 defense. With the 25th pick, they should be in good position to grab a [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 7/13/11

Wednesday is yet another big day in labor talks as things heat up with players and owners once again in New York, and we also head to Denver, San Francisco, and Washington for some football talk.

Is a John Fox-DeAngelo Williams reunion on the horizon in Denver?

Fox wants a running back … One of the biggest offensive shifts in the league could come in Denver, where the wide-open passing attack of Josh McDaniels will give way to John Fox’s multi-RB approach. OC Mike McCoy is a holdover from the previous staff, but he has experience under Fox and will call the plays. Although the Broncos drafted Knowshon Moreno with the 12th overall pick just two years ago, Fox’s #1 priority is to bring in a free agent RB with Moreno potentially moving into more of a third-down role. It’s a move we agree with, because Moreno isn’t really equipped to be the centerpiece of an offense. He can put up decent production, but he’s limited with a lack of fluidity as a runner. Among the free agent RBs, the obvious name is DeAngelo Williams, who had a lot of success with Fox in Carolina, rushing for 1000 yards in back-to-back [...]

Just a quick note today for those drafting (Sunday, August 17, 2014) that I have updated projections taking into account the Friday and Saturday games. The problem with doing this is our PDF cheat sheets and excel files are now behind what the projections and the custom cheat sheet have. When we do our main projection updates early and late in the week, it’s […]

  • Making room for an NFL Film Room July 24, 2014
As I hope subscribers can see, we are once again pushing hard to improve our offerings and our overall service, and I have another announcement regarding that endeavor today. More often than not, the answers to each upcoming season’s burning questions wind up being important keys to the success of a fantasy draft, so they’re worth exploring in depth. 2014 seems to be a little more straightforward than 2013, but there are still some critical situations that need to be placed under the microscope. Here’s my top-10. Is it time to pa […]
