Player Notes: Sanu, Cook, Gates, Housler

We spent some time watching 2012 game tape on some of the more intriguing fantasy players for the upcoming season. The players we chose to watch weren’t necessarily marquee fantasy players in 2012, but they could be key players this upcoming season. We tried to pinpoint some of the strengths and weaknesses of each player by watching a couple games. We decided to publish a series of blogs detailing what we saw with our raw notes.

These are raw notes, so forgive grammatical errors or the occasional poor language. Nor were they intended to be comprehensive or definitive takes. We simply thought it’d be another way to gain some extra insight into some of the more intriguing 2013 fantasy players. We watched 36 players total, so we’ll post notes on 4 players a day over a nine-day period. Here are the players we watched and when our notes will be posted:

July 30: Christian Ponder, Brandon Weeden, David Wilson, Lamar Miller

July 31: Chris Ivory, Daryl Richardson, Cecil Sorts, Dennis Pitta

Aug. 1: Shane Vereen, Danario Alexander, Josh Gordon, T.Y. Hilton

Aug. 2: Chris Givens, Kendall Wright, Michael Floyd, Bernard Pierce

Aug. 5: Pierre Garcon, Antonio Brown, Torrey Smith, Vernon Davis

Aug. 6: Greg Olsen, Dwayne Allen, [...]

Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/25/11

We will be focusing on actual football stories until there is some legitimate news to talk about when it comes to the labor situation. Today we have injury updates on some major fantasy players and interesting news regarding two young QBs.

Peyton has neck surgery … and will be out six to eight weeks, according to Colts owner Jim Irsay. The procedure, Manning’s second on his neck since February of last year, was to remove park of a bulging disk. Manning had the surgery on Monday and was already home recovering on Tuesday. According to Manning, the discomfort started just recently and that this procedure was not related to the previous one. Manning anticipates a quick recovery, noting he began working out within two weeks of his first procedure last year. Irsay reiterated his hope to sign Manning to a long-term deal as soon as possible with the latest surgery having no effect on any possible contract. However, he did say Manning might have his throws limited in training camp with the team’s backups getting more work.

Did Peyton catch the injury bug from Tiger? We sure hope not.

Antonio Gates is healthy … according to Charger HC [...]

If you have a draft and are loo […]

  • The latest projections August 30, 2015
Every year on this very day I am faced with the dilemma of having rankings that, despite being less than 2 days old, feel a little stale because of all the action in the critical third preseason game. The problem is it takes forever to update projections, comments, create the PDFs, create the excel files, and update all the apps. It cannot be done over the w […]

  • 8/17 USA Today mock draft August 19, 2015
I did an expert mock draft for USA Today and their special fantasy preview publication that will hit newsstands next week. I admittedly didn’t focus on the just the draft (I was working on several things at the time) and I simply queued up a bunch of players I liked. It wasn’t efficient at all, and I only like the squad (not love), but for what it’s worth th […]
