Fantasy Guru Daily: 7/4/11

A slow time of year for news is even slower during this holiday weekend, which means an abbreviated blog today. Here is a look at some of the news, notes, and nuggets from around the league.

We’ve gotten some interesting tidbits from Camp Alex, the 49er player-run workouts led by QB Alex Smith. However, one of the most important components of the team’s offense has been rehabbing across the country. RB Frank Gore broke his hip in November, but Smith said the updates he’s gotten on Gore have been “encouraging.” Also, Smith noted that Gore should ready when he hits the field since he met with RB coach Tom Rathman extensively before the lockout to learn the new offense.

A few weeks back, we learned that the #1 overall pick, QB Cam Newton, would be working with former Panther QB Chris Weinke to learn the team’s new offense. Newton got a playbook on the one day the lockout was lifted, so he’s been able to share that with Weinke. Newton is also getting help from former NFL QB Ken Dorsey, who played for new Panther OC Rob Chudzinski at the University of Miami and with the Browns. Here are the top stories I’m following for Week 17 Cleveland (7-8) at Baltimore (9-6) Brown QB situation. Brian Hoyer (right shoulder/biceps) did not practice Friday. Rookie Connor Shaw is set to start for them at Baltimore. Do they give Terrance West any snaps to evaluate him? He played 0 snaps last week. Does Josh Gordon do anything to leave us something t […]

Here are the top stories that I will be following in Week 16 for fantasy. Philadelphia (9-5) at Washington (3-11) Robert Griffin III did play better last week, but does it mean anything? It’s hard to trust him even against a beatable secondary and a defense that lost a top pass rusher in Trent Cole. If you’re playing in Week 17, can you trust DeSean Jackson, […]

  • Week 15 storylines December 13, 2014
Here are the top stories I’ll be following in Week 15 with some insight on some of them. Pittsburgh (8-5) at Atlanta (5-8) Will Julio Jones play? Without Jones, they have no explosiveness in the passing game and Ryan will have to dink-and-dunk to Roddy White a […]
