Matt Brown
Brown decided he wanted to go into sportswriting in second grade and hasn’t looked back since. He got into football writing at an early age, producing college football and NFL Draft guides for family and friends starting in middle school, eventually leading to appearances on local sports talk radio in the Lehigh Valley, Pa., and on Comcast SportsNet’s Daily News Live in Philadelphia.
Brown enrolled at Penn State University in 2006, where he hosted a college football show on student radio for two years and joined the staff of The Daily Collegian, leading to three years spent almost entirely in the basement newsroom of the James Building in State College. At the paper, he covered several Penn State sports as a beat writer, including the men’s basketball team in a rare successful season, before directing coverage of Nittany Lion football as the Football Editor and running the Opinion page as a senior. During summers, he interned at CN8: The Comcast Network in Philadelphia and as a sports reporter for the Reading Eagle in Reading, Pa. After graduating from Penn State with a degree in print journalism, he spent the summer of 2010 as an associate reporter for MLB.com covering the Reds in Cincinnati before joining the FantasyGuru.com staff.
Originally from Perkasie, Pa., Brown grew up in a Penn State family with season tickets to games at Beaver Stadium and has been a diehard football fan on both Saturdays and Sundays for all his life. He’s a recovering BCS supporter who has seen the light of a playoff system, and he spends a lot of his spare time watching baseball and basketball, in addition to consuming as much sports media as possible and thinking Twitter is one of man’s greatest inventions.
