Fantasy Guru Daily: 5/4/11

Hurry up and wait! That is how we would describe the idea of an expedited hearing. While we are waiting, some news continues to trickle in pertaining to a possible major trade and players holding their own workouts at local high schools and colleges.

Motion for expedited appeal granted … by 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which set June 3 as the date for arguments to begin in St. Louis. The league requested the expedited appeal and the process of briefs begins with the league’s opening brief due on May 9. The players must respond on May 20 with the league responding to that on May 26. Although the hearing is still just under a month away, that is considered very quick in comparison to the usual process, which according to Clerk Michael Gans, wouldn’t take place until October or November. The ruling on the appeal, based on it being expedited, could come down in mid-June. The lockout remains on after the court granted an expedited stay last Friday, but that could be lifted (or remain) based on the court’s ruling of a full stay, which could come as early as Wednesday.

Here are the top stories I’m following for Week 17 Cleveland (7-8) at Baltimore (9-6) Brown QB situation. Brian Hoyer (right shoulder/biceps) did not practice Friday. Rookie Connor Shaw is set to start for them at Baltimore. Do they give Terrance West any snaps to evaluate him? He played 0 snaps last week. Does Josh Gordon do anything to leave us something t […]

Here are the top stories that I will be following in Week 16 for fantasy. Philadelphia (9-5) at Washington (3-11) Robert Griffin III did play better last week, but does it mean anything? It’s hard to trust him even against a beatable secondary and a defense that lost a top pass rusher in Trent Cole. If you’re playing in Week 17, can you trust DeSean Jackson, […]

Here are the top stories I’ll be following in Week 15 with some insight on some of them. Pittsburgh (8-5) at Atlanta (5-8) Will Julio Jones play? It’s obviously a huge key for Matt Ryan’s ability to hang with the Steelers in a high-scoring game. Without Jones, they have no explosiveness in the passing game and Ryan will have to dink-and-dunk to Roddy White a […]
