Fantasy Guru Daily: 4/7/11

Normally, we like to take a quick sweep around the league for any useful bit of news, but we were glued to Twitter again yesterday as the preliminary hearing of the Brady v. NFL case was heard before Judge Susan Nelson. As such, today’s edition of the Fantasy Guru Daily will be a collection of links about the hearing, and a discussion of what it could mean for football in 2011.

Nelson said her ruling on whether to issue an injunction to lift the lockout would take “a couple of weeks.” This is no surprise, as very few expected Nelson to rule immediately (in legalese, “from the bench”). Should Nelson rule in favor of the players, she would issue an injunction to lift the NFL’s lockout, deeming it unlawful as the NFLPA had decertified prior to the lockout. Now, we are no lawyers, but all reports from the courtroom suggest that Nelson grilled NFL counsel David Boies, even going so far as to say the players had the “right” to decertify. If this is the case, it indicates that Nelson is leaning to siding with the players, which could entail an immediate injunction to stop the lockout, allowing teams to make [...]

  • The latest projections August 30, 2015
Every year on this very day I am faced with the dilemma of having rankings that, despite being less than 2 days old, feel a little stale because of all the action in the critical third preseason game. The problem is it takes forever to update projections, comments, create the PDFs, create the excel files, and update all the apps. It cannot be done over the w […]

  • 8/17 USA Today mock draft August 19, 2015
I did an expert mock draft for USA Today and their special fantasy preview publication that will hit newsstands next week. I admittedly didn’t focus on the just the draft (I was working on several things at the time) and I simply queued up a bunch of players I liked. It wasn’t efficient at all, and I only like the squad (not love), but for what it’s worth th […]

  • 12-team PPR IDP Mock Draft results June 4, 2015
I have been buried since the NFL draft doing our post-draft work, 2015 projections, and more, so I didn’t get a chance to post a draft I participated in for most of May (slow draft). It’s for Athlon Sports’ fantasy magazine, so I can’t publish the entire draft. But here’s my team. This league stars 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 […]
