We start another week of the off-season with some trade speculation, more labor news, and unfortunately some legal issues for more than one player.
Kevin Kolb would be open to a trade to the Cardinals … after he heard the flattering comments made by WR Larry Fitzgerald. Kolb threw some compliments back at Fitzgerald calling him “one of the best receivers” and a “superstar.” Kolb has said on multiple occasions that he wants to start somewhere in 2011 and hoped the Cardinals came up in trade discussions. With rumors swirling that Michael Vick will be franchised by the Eagles, Kolb could be stuck backing him up yet again, or the Eagles could look to move him for draft picks, although the current CBA situation makes that more difficult.
The NFL and NFLPA are expected to meet … sometime this week according to multiple sources. Negotiations broke down last Wednesday, but the two sides have continued to communicate and are expected to go through with a scheduled meeting during the week. Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke with owners after last week’s meeting to discuss the events that took place on Wednesday.
The Titans brought back Jerry Gray … as their new defensive coordinator. Gray was with the team from 1997-2000 as a quality control coach and then as a DB coach. He had agreed to be the DB coach for the University of Texas just last month after spending the 2010 season with the Seahawks in the same capacity. Gray was the defensive coordinator in Buffalo from 2001-2005. Tennessee is expected to make the rest of their coaching hires on the defensive side now that Gray is in place as the DC.
Michael Bush was arrested … and charged with drunk driving early Saturday morning in Indiana. He was pulled over at 3:47am in Jeffersonville and was released around 1pm on Saturday. Bush is free agent and coming off the best season of his three-year career, rushing for 655 yards and 8 TDs. When contacted about the arrest, the Raiders declined commenting.
o Redskin DT Albert Haynesworth was charged with assault stemming from a road rage conflict on February 2nd. He appeared in court on Saturday and will have another court date on March 31.
o Steeler LB James Harrison will have surgery for an undisclosed injury that will keep him out for 4-6 weeks.
o The Titans have showed interest in Bear OL Coach Mike Tice to run their offense. Chicago must give the Tice permission to talk to Tennessee since the move is only to become a coordinator, whereas permission isn’t needed if the Head Coach position.
