My RotoBowl Team

Saturday was my first foray in RotoBowl and it didn’t quite go as planned.

Here’s a look at my draft and what I was thinking on each pick.

Round 1

Frank Gore: I had the fifth pick. It came down to the upside of Gore or the safety of Marion Barber. I chose the upside with Gore in perhaps the best offensive scheme in the NFL where the backs put up huge numbers.

Tom Brady: Those footballinjuries.com subscribers who have followed my drafting habits over the years know that I rarely take a QB before the fifth round. This pick came down to Marques Colston or Brady. I knew neither play would be there for me in the next round. I had targeted Braylon Edwards who went right before me. I just couldn’t get around what Brady did last year. But I also looked ahead, as I always do, to see who might be there for me with the next pick. You have to always plan out what might happen if you take a player here. The plan would be to go with Brandon Marshall or Steve Smith or even Santonio Holmes in the next round.

Santonio Holmes: Interestingly, Marshall went off the board [...]

  • 12-team PPR IDP Mock Draft results June 4, 2015
I have been buried since the NFL draft doing our post-draft work, 2015 projections, and more, so I didn’t get a chance to post a draft I participated in for most of May (slow draft). It’s for Athlon Sports’ fantasy magazine, so I can’t publish the entire draft. But here’s my team. This league stars 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DT, 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 […]

  • First draft of the 2015 season April 14, 2015
Although it is disgustingly early for a 2015 fantasy football draft for most, we are closing in on the time of the year when a draft is at least viable. Free agency is basically over, so all we have to wait for now is the draft. I’ve also been intrigued with what our friends at myfantasyleague.com have been doing with their MFL10s. It’s a great idea for the […]

  • Week 17 storylines December 26, 2014
Here are the top stories I’m following for Week 17 Cleveland (7-8) at Baltimore (9-6) Brown QB situation. Brian Hoyer (right shoulder/biceps) did not practice Friday. Rookie Connor Shaw is set to start for them at Baltimore. Do they give Terrance West any snaps to evaluate him? He played 0 snaps last week. Does Josh Gordon do anything to leave us something t […]
