2008 Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide
-
Pianowski’s Projections
– Our (constantly updated) files will ensure you’re up-to-date on
everything going on in the world of fantasy baseball on draft day. We’ll
rank, project a multitude of stats, and assign dollar values for 575+
players. We’ll also designate players will upside, downside and players
who are over and undervalued and more. These are produced on standard
web pages and in excel files available for download and are the
brainchild of veteran fantasy player Scott Pianowski. Pianowski’s
projections are widely considered to be some of the best in the
industry.
-
MLB Team Overviews –
If you’re looking for a one-stop place to check on team position battles
and the like this preseason, here’s a feature for you. In late-February,
we’ll roll out an extensive look at all 30 MLB teams and will cover the
team’s prospects for 2008, give lineup updates at all the key positions
and cover position battles, and give you the skinny on each team’s
rotation and closer situation. Then, when the exhibition season kicks
off, we’ll constantly update this feature throughout March to give
readers an easy reference point.

out a 2008 sample here.
-
2007 Draft Plan – The
foundation of our preseason football coverage is our extensive draft
plan article. The (constantly updated) baseball version is similar, and
it gives and overview of the talent at each position and the player’s
average draft positions and how it affects your desirable plan of action
on draft day. Also included is tons of insight on a wise plan of draft
action and more. NOTE: This Draft Plan is not released until at
least mid-March because it’s fruitless to offer it too early, before
many key drafts take place.
-
Greg Shea's Tip Sheet
– Twice a week in March, we’ll give you a comprehensive look at the
fantasy market’s movers and shakers with plenty of analysis. If a
player’s stock is up or down for any reason, Shea will cover it here. In
addition, this column will feature a report on some emerging young
prospects, as well as a Q & A on a variety of subjects. Greg Shea’s been
a FantasyGuru.com fantasy baseball contributor periodically for almost a
decade, and was one of the first fantasy baseball columnists on ESPN.com,
where his “Tip Sheet” column appeared in the late-90s.
-
Players to Target –
One of our most important pieces, these massive (and constantly updated)
overviews cover the best value and sleeper pitcher and hitters to
target. Between the various tiers we placed these players in (from
fairly obvious to deep sleepers) this section usually totals 15-18 pages
of must-read material.
In-Season Content:
Since we are not truly a baseball service, our
in-season content is basic, yet very extensive and important:
-
The Waiver Wire – This
constantly updated feature will basically give you all you need to run a
traditional fantasy baseball team. Rest easy knowing you’re not going to
miss the next great thing on the WW by checking in regularly on our
player write-ups. These are broken down by position (each hitter
position, starting pitchers, and relievers) and listed in order of their
deserved priority on the Waiver Wire. This feature will be updated 3X a
week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The Manager's Report –
A great addition in 2008 and a real time-saver for all readers. This
article will feature the “Pitcher Report,” which will cover those with
double starts for the week, broken down by most favorable
opponent/ballpark ratio. It will also include an overview of some key
pitchers with best chances for a win based on team opponent/ opposing
pitcher/ballpark. The “Hitter Report” will covers teams with 7/6/5 games
in the upcoming week, teams with best pitching matchups (also noting how
many L/R's scheduled), and a ballpark rating for the week.
